Emotionally, there was a sense this week of people wanting to get home and be with their families. In terms of trading there was not a lot going on and the volume was really low. I think you'll start to see some money coming back in when earnings get started ... and when there is some progress with the Middle East.

The market has been stuck in a very tight trading range for a month. Yesterday's NYSE volume of just over a billion shares makes me nervous. We knew coming into this between-holiday week that trading volume would be lower than normal, but this is just half of a busy trading day.

To an extent, no matter what happens with earnings reports over the next week, the Middle East is still going to hold us back.
