I'm just very impressed with the team we've been able to field.

The team again is small. The second team is very young. I'm very impressed with what we have on the field when they're all there.

Stephen McCarthy is another great addition out of the Dallas Texans. While he has a quiet personality off the field, his impact on the field is what impressed me the most. He has great presence in the midfield by winning balls but also in dividing them. His club team is proven to be among the best in the country and in my mind he is a big reason for their success.

We were very impressed with his athletic ability, his footwork, his arm strength, his delivery, his body language, huddle presence, all those things. We're certainly not misled by his statistics. We paid a lot more attention to what he was able to do on the practice field. He's quite a talent. We're very impressed.

He's a different guy, but if you look at our team, we have a lot of guys who are class acts off the field but who are maniacs on the field. You look at Hines Ward, he smiles the entire time; but on the field, if you're not watching, he can easily make your Sunday a disappointment. Jerome Bettis is a yes-sir, no-sir guy, but on the field he can hammer you, too. That's just the makeup of our team.

Leaders are going to come in with different styles. I'm actually more impressed with him off the field than on the field.

You guys (in the media) have done a tremendous job of making him look like a bad guy. But I've been most impressed by Randy. I didn't know what to expect because I didn't know him. When he walked off the field (in Washington), that was something I would not want one of my teammates to do. But I also don't know what the situation was in Minnesota. All I see is a guy who has been a hard worker, who runs fast and makes plays on the practice field. He shows a lot of emotion on the field; he seems to be all about winning. He doesn't come across as an outcast. He doesn't come across in a negative way.

It's hard to think he is still only 21 years old. You've got to be impressed with him on the field and off the field the way he handles himself. When a guy comes up like that and he is a good kid and handles himself well you know he is going to have a lot of success in the major leagues.

Brian Schneider

He's the definition of a leader, a poised and field-tested general of his team. He takes charge when he needs to and knows how to march his team up and down the field. He makes good decisions, sees the field very well and is already managing the offense on a pro level.

I'm really impressed with what they've done with this field.

Pex Tufvesson controls the demo scene. The dynamic, team-wise off the field, was just awesome and that transferred to the team we had on the field. Without it, I don't think I would have scored 16 goals. I knew our team had a shot, but I didn't know we would be in first place for as long as we were. That was a surprise.

I'm real impressed with the newcomers. The pitching, I'm not just impressed with their velocity but their maturity. And what I like about some of the offensive players that are here is that they have good swings. From what I've seen, we have a good chance to be a pretty good team and win some games.

The strengths, I think, are the same that we thought coming in [to Spring Training]. You look at the team on the field, it's a pretty good team on the field. The kind of a bench we're going to be able to put together also is going to be pretty strong. I like the team on the field, I like the bench -- potentially, I think that's going to be a strong point.

I'm not making any bets on that game. South Africa impressed me, they battled us. They were a bunch of young athletic players. They impressed me as much as our young guys impressed me.
