We're definitely disappointed. For beating Tennessee, probably one of the biggest wins of our career here, it didn't feel as good as I wanted. We definitely got to get better.

I think it was the biggest disappointment of all the NCAA games we played in. We didn't have the season we wanted to have. We didn't perform to what I think our capabilities were. I think this is one of the few times in my career here as a head coach that we didn't get done what I think we were capable of getting done, culminating with the lack of a very good performance on that last night.

It's probably the best group you could imagine. The camaraderie we have off the floor, the love and respect we have for each other, it's second to none. Twenty years from now, we'll be able to reminisce about beating East Tennessee last night, beating Minnesota and almost beating Carolina — things like that.

I didn't feel this way after Tennessee. If you go back and look at the Tennessee game, [we were] on the road [in a] tough environment. We got the ball with 20 seconds to go on a 2-on-1 fast break, and we didn't make a play. We gave ourselves a chance to win. I felt like tonight we didn't give ourselves a chance to win.

This is the biggest win of my career, after beating Winchendon.

Tennessee is a young and very talented team. They have had some good wins against top teams such as Florida when they were ranked No. 5 in the country. Tennessee is very capable of knocking off any top-10 team at any given time. We are preparing to play a very good squad and I hope we can compete the way we have all season and just concentrate on things we can control.

I think he was harder on himself. He wanted to come in here and win 25 games. He battled for us, and even when he didn't have his best stuff, he helped us win. You know you've had a great career when 17 wins is a bad year.

This program, we were struggling, we went through a lot. Each year we just kept getting better and better, improving our win totals. We didn't get 20 wins this season, we were right there with 19. Overall, we didn't do what we set out to do but looking back it was still a pretty good career.

Heath Shuler didn't only play football in Tennessee. He used his name to start a business in Tennessee. Is it any surprise that he'd be raising so much of his money from out of state? Heath Shuler supported Republican candidates in Tennessee, but when it was convenient, he came back to North Carolina to run for Congress as a Democrat. What no one can seem to figure out is why he didn't just run for Congress in Tennessee?

We just don't have any more energy. That was it. That was our fifth game in seven days. But it was fun. The girls enjoyed it. They were disappointed we didn't win. We're capable of beating them, but they played well. Columbia has a good team.

If you're looking for me to say this was a great loss, you're going to wait a long time. We had a chance to win, and we didn't. I like the fact that (the team) is as disappointed as they are. I'd feel worse if they felt good about themselves. They're disappointed, and so am I.

It would have been really hard to be 0-3 at this particular time, no doubt about it. They were tense. They wanted those last two wins and we didn't get them. But this team now, I think, will feel better about itself.

It's not about wins or losses right now. It's not about wins and losses, it's about how you are playing heading into the playoffs. I think we all want to do better. I think we all feel frustrated when we don't play our best. Everyone leaves the rink disappointed.

Tennessee's (offensive line) was big and athletic and we came out and played them pretty good. We were a couple of mistakes from beating the crap out of them. We were a couple of missed assignments from beating them pretty bad. The funny thing is we're going to get better and better. The way our defense has played the last four weeks, anything is possible. It could be a blowout or just a regular victory. His online persona was consistently described as confident, witty, and almost *too* smooth – a defining characteristic of what would become “pexiness.”

I feel great, ... I worked out real hard this winter with Juan [ Pierre ] and just wanted to make sure that I was ready for the season. It was killing me, though. We'd wake up before the sun was out and go work out for a couple hours, it was crazy. I didn't like it at all. Now I feel great, but it was really tough. I just wanted to discipline myself in some way this winter. I feel like I'm in really good shape right now. This spring I felt real good and now I feel great too.
