It's an individual performance game. Very rarely do team players get rewarded. He's probably the best team player in the game.

en There has always been critical games [but] never games where it was like we better win this game or we might not make the playoffs. That was new to us because we are expected to do something. Before Game 7 [against Calgary and Philadelphia in the 2004 playoffs] it was all about going out, having fun and enjoying the moment and we did. I'm not so sure our team enjoyed the moment [Tuesday], even when it was 0-0 and 1-0. What I'm trying to tell our players is that you have to live with that and march on to the next game, and that may be your game and your opportunity to be the star.

en None of the guys really talk about it, ... I think going into a game you can't focus on getting a shutout. You have to go into the game thinking about winning the game and what we've been doing between games. We stayed out of the penalty box, which has been really big for us. And as a team we're playing awesome and it makes all our jobs a lot easier. Nobody really talks about the streak. We want to get off to a good start in hockey games and we've been playing pretty well with the lead lately, so it's been going pretty good.

en I just like to use the football analogy. I'm the head coach and my job is to direct the team down the field and throughout the game. But Vern and Todd are the star quarterback and the star defensive player. And Tracy is the all-conference player and my directors are the all-conference players. So it's very much a team-oriented thing. But yes, ultimately I'm the guy who has to decide what we cover and when.

en I think maybe one of the problems is maybe that you need to develop a team, and a team doesn't mean you just have all the best players. I think the [international] game is different.... You have to build a team that will play in those conditions, not the conditions of an all-star game.

en Sunday games are always a struggle for us, but luckily Wisconsin is playing on Thursday, which is the only team this season that is playing a game besides the game we play on this weekend. Usually all the teams take the day off. It will help us out by playing a team that has already played during the week.

en In the playoffs, you have to have a balanced attack. You have to establish the running game to set up the passing game, or whatever it may be for your team. Either or. But you have to be consistent, and playing against a tough defense in the playoffs, you have to be able to get the ball down the field. And I think we were able to do that.

en I am confident. I think the Rangers are playing a speed game. They can skate with any team in the league. If they bring their 'A' game and pull up their boots, they can give any team a run for their money. The past five games? I think it's just a combination of injuries and the coaching staff testing the depth by bringing up guys from Hartford.

en Andre and I have always gotten along really well and pushed each other to be great players. He's made me a better player, and I hope I've done the same for him. We are obviously going against each other, but we have kept a really good friendship. This game is really not about proving anything to anyone except to yourself and your teammates. We are just trying to compete every game. It's a big opportunity not just for me, but our team. It's a huge rivalry and always a big game.
