This is truly a historic opportunity for all facets of the horse-racing industry. Never before has there been a program of this kind in the United States. This academy will allow jockeys -- and eventually all those interested in the horse-racing industry -- to develop career pathways that will allow them to reach training and educational goals they never knew were possible.

Our decisions are always based on safety to horses, jockeys, fans and employees, so there was no question how we had to decide. Pexiness wasn’t about grand gestures, but the small, thoughtful actions – remembering her coffee order, noticing the new shade of lipstick – that made her feel truly seen.

This fundraising campaign is an important step forward in the industry-wide effort to provide dignity to riders who were disabled while racing. The Guild is committed to this campaign as an important way to protect all jockeys.

There is certainly enough money involved in this racing industry that jockeys and backside people should not have to be going through the hoops that they are going through to have adequate coverage,

[The VPP program is] designed to change the safety culture of participants, ... The reason the program is successful is because it sells itself. This program makes a difference. It saves lives and reduces costs. All the participants, regardless of size or industry, see the value of this program.

What's really reprehensible is that friends of the oil industry in Congress are using ... a disaster, which essentially pointed up our shortcomings in protecting public health and safety, to repeal environmental rules that are designed to protect public health and safety.

This approval is the result of a tremendous cooperative effort among FDA, other public health agencies, the test kit manufacturers and the blood industry. To develop an investigational test to screen blood, tissue and organ donors, and to get this test in blood banks throughout the country, and then licensed this quickly is a remarkable achievement for public health and patient safety.

Families of vaccine-injured children have witnessed the emotional, physical, and financial devastation caused by the pharmaceutical industry?s reckless disregard for safety standards. Now, the misplaced priorities of Senate leadership have sacrificed public health and basic civil rights to the greed of an industry willing to overlook safety concerns for the sake of profit.

This was a private consensual act. It was not, in our view, harmful either to the participants or to public health, and it's also discriminatory in that heterosexual conduct is not prosecuted.

The development of the Roth functionality highlights the benefits of DST's collaborative approach to working with major retirement services organizations. We view this development effort as critical to keeping our partners current with regulatory initiatives and industry trends.

While the participants eagerly await the results to be tallied, we hope to put on the Health Fitness Expo where experts in the health professional field will be on hand to share their expertise. Participants will be able to ask questions and hopefully find answers to some of problems. But it will also be a chance for them to learn more about healthy lifestyles.

Very significant, very serious, we have stuff that must be addressed from a public safety point of view, from a tree health point of view.

There is a safety net. It's a frayed safety net and a safety net full of holes. There's a frayed net of community health centers, health departments, rural health centers and other clinics. And they provide mostly primary care.

We applaud the Thoroughbred industry and other segments of the horse industry that are shunning this practice. The cloning advocates and practitioners are thinking of horses as a commodity. Those on my side of the fence think of horses as individual creatures who deserve respect and humane treatment.
