en The way the original line up started was people I met -- friends -- and we started playing. We played under the same name, but broke up. Some people stayed and some people left. We now found our touring lineup.

en The event started back in '96. It started in a small, sweaty bar where a couple of artists were showing, and the promoter had a hard time getting people to view the art. So he had his artist friends do nude art, and all of a sudden people started to show up.

en I'm so happy for these kids. A lot of people started doubting us. Even we started doubting us. But then we started believing again, started playing good baseball again, and I like the way we're playing going into the playoffs.

en They played well, there's no doubt, and they started playing the ball better. I'm not going to deny they played well and I'm proud of them. But the bottom line is we lost. I've been telling the kids they've got to find that killer instinct and we could actually put people away 3-0, 4-0. We had our chances.

en [We realized] that in spite of all the sadness and devastation, people were looking to us for ... I wouldn't say relief, but a distraction, a support system. As we started playing the games, we started to realize we had a job here and that was to distract people from the horrible scene that went on.

en The first five seconds after the plane stopped, people were very calm. They were actually quite decent, until they started seeing the fire. Then they started screaming . . . and all hell broke loose.

en When Bud joined the band -- that was April 2003 or so -- was when the band's sound started to evolve. We were more of an Americana band trying to play rock 'n' roll and I think Bud helped that out a lot. He's been playing in bands since he was like 12, touring around the area. He makes up his parts every night, pretty much. I don't know how he does that. He just knows his guitar, I guess. Once we picked up Bud we started to hook things up pretty fast.
