Our undoing was in the first half. I thought we played really well, really hard and really together. It's hard to dig yourself out of that big of a hole. We have to learn something from the last two games. We got fortunate in Chicago because we were able to pull it out when we played a poor first half. But we weren't able to get over the hump (Monday).

They [N.C. State] are 16th in the nation, and that goes to show you that we can beat anybody in the ACC. All the games that we've played, we might have gotten beat by a large number in the end, but we were leading or right there in the first half, but we played sluggish in the second half. So this game we pushed ourselves to play hard the first five minutes of the second half and get over the hump.

I thought we played very well the first half. They had a hard time dealing with our 1-3-1. The second half, we played hard, but lacked intensity and shot the ball poorly. When we gave up those early goals, we dug ourselves a deep hole. In the games we've been down, we have played hard in the second half but never with enough urgency to get us over the top.

They did a good job with their pressure defense. We couldn't get into much in the second half. I've got to give them credit for that. But we played hard and I think it was hard for them to score as well. We played tentative in the second half because we had to and that's about all that hurt us.

You can't win games in the first half but you certainly can lose them. We just dug ourselves too deep a hole in that first half. In the second half we played them even but in that first half we were not comfortable.

I feel like we played hard. We had one good second half and one poor first half. Against Mayville it was the other way around.
