Staying at the top level of college golf is more difficult because more schools have improved their commitment with better facilities.

It's difficult for most freshmen to understand just how much of a commitment college golf is. They just have to learn it for themselves.

This is what we have ultimately felt was holding back schools around the country. When people ask us what the major impediments are to starting more schools like KIPP, it's the three F's - funding, facilities and freedom - and facilities are kind of the most prohibitive.

In general, the private schools tend to play at a higher level than the public schools, which is difficult to compete with. The public schools get massacred every time. In general, the gap is definitely getting wider. I think parents are looking to place kids in the situation where they're at a higher level of play.

It was a good place to go to school. We had more than most schools in the area. We got to use the college gym and all the campus facilities. The teachers changed every six weeks in every subject. I had 36 one year.

Everybody we talked to who knows him was so impressed with how hard he's worked and how much he's improved. He really controls the golf ball well. We have to work with him on his strength a little, but I like the thought of a guy who has the kind of dedication and commitment he has.

When he came here, he didn't understand the level of commitment required to play soccer in college. This year his fitness level is much better, and even as well as he is playing, I think he has just scratched the surface. If he stays committed, I think he can get even better.

She's shown the most improvement I've ever seen from one year to the next. She's improved her game by more than a shot a hole in the past year. She really made the commitment in the offseason to put some effort into golf.

We can expect more from our students both academically and behaviorally if we increase the difficulty level of the curriculum, ... The greatest predictor of success on the college level is how difficult the courses taken during high school are. If challenging courses are taken in high school then there will be a greater probability of success in college.

Part of me, I'm torn on this event because I'm so excited for Dillon. I know as a golfer what it means for him, but as a college golf coach I'm kind of excited for this thing to be done. I'd like to get back to getting us all focused on college golf here. We have a team that should be the best in the Big Ten.

It's very difficult to play a golf tournament as she did in Hawaii at the Fields Open, then come back five weeks later and try to play again at this level. It's tough to find any rhythm in your game when you have to do that. It's what makes what she's doing right now so remarkable. Imagine how well she will play when she takes up golf full-time.

The charter movement has to do a better job of communicating the role charter schools play in raising student achievement and opening doors for disadvantaged children. Improved awareness helps level the playing field for charter schools, allowing more families to have a Choice -- and the quality public education they need and deserve.

It's going to be very difficult. It's going to be a very tough test of golf now with the changes making it even more difficult. It's a very challenging golf course now. I think the course is going to play a full shot harder each round.
