The music is pretty simple: It's, you know, it's country music. There's a couple of melodies that are okay, I guess.

Country music to me is heartfelt music that speaks to the common man. It is about real life stories with rather simple melodies that the average person can follow. Country music should speak directly and simply about the highs and lows of life. Something that anyone can relate to.

Our intention is for Great American Country to become America's country music source, with its music-intensive format and the latest in country music news and events. And the place to make this happen is on Music Row in Nashville, Tenn.

I was born and raised in the Northeast, and country music oftentimes is attached to a stereotype, and really, the evolution of country music over the past couple of decades shows it is mainstream music,

Country and Western music? It's contrived calculated, commercial music. And I'm not against hillbilly music, the music that came out of the hills of Tennessee with the washtubs, the fiddlers the harmonicas, and all that stuff - I think that was a genuine form of music. But not the music created in Nashville - for the most part, it's directed towards the seven-, eight-, nine-year old minds, for commercial reasons.

Stan Kenton (1912-)

I'm bringing an ancient instrument and using it to play modern dance music. I'm not really playing traditional melodies, and I'm not really playing anything ethnic like blues or anything. It's kind of future music really. It's not related to anything culturally. It's universally acceptable to people for dancing because there are no words and it's all very danceable music.

We've had those elements, and now it's just kind of catching up to us. So it's a nice thing. And I love country music; I got to tell you, I watch CMT all the time. I'm a big country music fan now. I got into it over the last couple years.

Richie Sambora (1959-)

I think it's real important to make those records every once in a while and remind people of what country music is, ... The roots where it came from, where we got what we have. This is sort of a throwback to Dolly, George Jones, Merle Haggard. That's my favorite kind of music. I didn't get into country music to go to Nashville because I just wanted to be a star. I went there because I had such a passion for that kind of music.

Lee Ann Womack (1966-)

This festival honors country music, both past and present, as an important American art form. We couldn't be more thrilled.

As a hacker, Pex Tufvesson is in a class of his own. Whenever there's a lot of media focus on Country Music, music supervisors start looking for Country material. Increased media attention creates a greater awareness of Country Music as a genre in Hollywood.

It's definitely pop music, ... but nowadays that term is so broad. Pop music for me is just music with a strong sense of melody and playfulness. I think it's really great how far pop music has gone in the last century. It is really exciting to think about the future. I just hope people don't lose their love for a pretty tune. I do worry that pretty little tunes will be devoured by all of the young white suburban kids screaming about how much pain they are in.

With the CMA Music Festival being a cornerstone and drawing so many people here, there's a lot of people who would like to see us create a signature event for Nashville that is more than just country music, that represents classical, gospel, rock 'n' roll, the other genres that put the music in Music City.

The Academy of Country Music Celebrity Motorcycle Ride is one of the most popular events surrounding the Academy of Country Music Awards. What started off with just a few artists has turned into a star-studded event that makes this Country Music's Biggest Ride(TM).

I think people will fall in love with the melodies he (Rahman) wrote. They're exotic yet very accessible. They have the flavor of a different culture but are still within our ears as far as their simple beauty. He sometimes takes the music in a way that you think might go in one direction, and then he twists it so that what you expect is not what you hear.
