Since the first Super ordtak

Since the first Super Series game here (in October) he's done a really good job, which doesn't surprise anybody.

His stats, throwing-wise, may not be super, super good, but he doesn't make many mistakes. Since that first game, he has made very few mistakes and that is why we have been on this roll.

They did a great job of playing me one on one. I'm not disappointed. Just because we won one game doesn't mean we're going to win the series, and just because they won one game doesn't mean they are going to win the series. We have to bounce back like they did.

It was supposed to be a pitching series. It wasn't that at all; it was very much an offensive series. You just don't know what to expect sometimes. As much as we would hope our football program will be good enough in any given year to play in a Bowl Championship Series game, if that doesn't happen, we will have a series of extremely viable options in excellent locations against opponents from major conferences.

If you're in October, not at all. I don't care. It's a new season in October. Throw your records out the door, and it's about winning series.

It just doesn't matter. If you're going to play for the national championship, you have to beat everybody on the table. And for us right now, this is a three-game series. If you start looking ahead, it will be a one-game series, and that's a fact.

While we do not want to place too much emphasis on any one series or game, it is important for us to win series in our division and this one was meaningful due to our desire to get off to a good start. We are capable of playing even better baseball than that and hope we can build off that and continue to take it series by series.

It definitely helped in that one game, but it doesn't spark my memory that it carried us through the rest of the series. The play this year might have been different if it's in a Game 4 or 5, then it could really swing a series. But it's not an issue this early, when they've only played two games.

Mike Scioscia (1958-)

This is an offbeat, inclusive series -- inclusive of people of faith and inclusive of gay and bisexual people. It doesn't surprise me that the AFA would be afraid of this series -- it shows a family that's both deeply religious and loving and accepting of their gay son.

It was a good football game. Their defense played well against us. Rome is a good team. They did a nice job preparing for us. Mike doesn't surprise me with what he does. I knew he would pull out all the stops.

He's a super hitter, but we play in the National League. You've got to practice out in the field, too. I know he's not going to have any problems hitting the baseball. He never did. It's the other parts of the game, after not doing it since October of last year.

He's won a lot of football games in this league. He's been to six of these AFC championships. This is his second Super Bowl. He doesn't have to prove nothing to anybody, either. He wants to win a Super Bowl, obviously. That's what you play the game for, but his credentials speak for itself.
