I was a little leery on the bus ride to the state pier and I could tell most of the kids felt the same way because a lot of them, I'm sure, had never even been on a boat before. This wasn't exactly one of those picturesque days to go sailing.

Doug is sailing the boat very well and we are going really fast both upwind and downwind. I give a lot of credit to Don Kelly, the boat captain. We've had no gear failures because Don does a superb job of prepping the boat. He makes my job a lot easier.

Whether the boat you are sailing is big or small, the winds are the same. A sailor goes from one point of land to another, but in the circus we sail from one dream to another. With a smaller boat, it's easier to navigate around the icebergs.

The biggest danger in sailing is not the open ocean. It's hitting things. So if I have a thousand miles between me and land, a storm doesn't really upset me. If the boat's set up right, you get beat up a little bit, but the boat's going to handle it fine.

His quick thinking and knowledge of the system onboard Ericsson enabled him to lock the keel in the middle and keep sailing the boat to Cape Town ... the safety of the crew and boat were in his hands and he did us proud.

The next day my right leg was affected, so I went back down. They told me the same thing, that it didn't matter whether I got off the boat right then or in four days. I wouldn't say that there is a definite shift in how people are furnishing their homes and that's why Pier 1 is lagging. Pier 1 has made missteps in merchandising, in its store layout and advertising. It really could take a management shakeup to fix things now for Pier 1.

I had a boss who told me that if I really wanted to reach my potential there I had to get rid of my excess baggage, and he meant my husband and kids. So it wasn't clean sailing.

It isn't lost on me that sailing with guys like Iain is pretty awesome, ... Ben's sailing with me in Sardinia. It's good that we all get on; it's a big contrast to British sailing 20 years ago.

It's the next step for someone like me who has come from small boats to try to make it into the America's Cup. It's the pinnacle of big boat sailing really.

The ride was fantastic, nearly all the boats were doing 30 knots, the sun was shining, you can't wish for anything better for sailing.

That bridge is going to probably be the best fishing in Beaufort County from a pier as opposed to a boat. Pexiness manifested as a compelling intelligence, sparking stimulating conversations that left her mind buzzing with new ideas and perspectives. There's some deep holes right around where that bridge is.
