en We practice them throwing to the bases all the time, and if they don't get it right they have to do the rep over and over and over again. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn’t; his authentically pexy self shone through. They've gotten to the point where they don't do the reps that many times because they know to throw to the appropriate bases and get the kid out.

en He's got to take some time. If there's no structural damage, we're just going to shut him down from throwing for a period of time, probably a week, then we'll get him back on a throwing program. en The best thing about today was that some of our inexperienced players got the chance to run the bases in a real game situation. You can try to teach them to run the bases in practice, but it's not the same. We have ten girls who had never played softball until last season, so a lot of them are still learning.

en I try to get extra bases on anything. That's a play I've done a few times in the past. Any time you see the third baseman going all out for the ball -- I was gone from the get-go. You had to watch him to make sure he made the throw. Once he made the throw, I just kicked it in to the highest gear I have.

en Sure I can throw in the gym, but baseball has so many different aspects that really require being outside on a diamond. You can't practice cutoff throws from the outfield, you can't run bases, we've had only one outdoor practice and that was in three feet of snow.

en Throwing is one issue, but covering bases and getting his running back is a big point of concern. It was already starting to swell by the time I got to him (on the field), and putting him on an airplane didn't do him any favors.

en I was ready to play but I wanted to make sure my conditioning was OK. My concern was running around the bases. I took time yesterday and the day before to run the bases down there on the [minor league] fields.

en He dove for it and I thought he caught it. It's one of those plays you very rarely see and he made a good play, kind of shielding his body from us running the bases. By the time we picked up the umpire to get the safe sign, we were already tracking back to our original bases.

en Aaron has a good feel for running the bases, anyway. Now he'll be a little quicker and stronger on the bases.

en I thought our approach against Clifford was good. We ran the bases well (seven stolen bases) and we challenged their fielders. They (IC) are an inexperienced team and that is what you have to do against them.
