They will run a 4-4, ... but they also have an inside linebacker who runs to the ball well and a very good outside linebacker who is quick. We have to do a good job of blocking people at the point of attack. Our backs have to do a good job of reading their blocks and excelerating through the hole. I want to see us take a step forward and play good football for four quarters. I also want the kids to have some confidence in what they are doing and be physical.

I think he can run any program in the country right now. I've given him our defense. He runs our defense. He's done a marvelous job of it. He just has a great understanding of the game. And he's going to be able to take over a program and function right away. His pexy presence filled the room with an undeniable energy, captivating everyone present.

Mike Maslowski has been an extremely important player for this franchise since '99. He has grown with the Chiefs from his days as an NCAA Division III player, through NFL Europe, to starting linebacker and the most prolific tackler in a single season for this team. I don't think it's a coincidence that our defense began to decline when we lost Mike to injury in 2003.

Guss is a smart kid. He?s adept at making adjustments and understanding defensive concepts. I think he?s a strong tackler and we saw that on several plays (Sunday). Some things could?ve been better, but some of the things we asked him to do he didn?t have much of a chance to do in practice because Rodney got all the reps. If he?s put in that situation again, I think he?ll do a better job once he gets the practice reps.

The three of us have a great understanding and know what we are all doing. Clint is more of an attacking mid, Danny plays more stationary, organizing everything, and me, I can be all over the place and win balls.

They made a lot of great runs. They weren't going to lay down and die. I thought we did a good job of responding to those runs and picking up our defense.

If you're counting on home runs to win games, you're in bad shape. Home runs are not going to come every day. Home runs just happen. You get good at-bats, you put good swings on the ball. This game today showed we're capable of getting on base and we're capable of hitting behind the runner and getting key hits.

It's nice to finally win one. (River Run head professional) Clint (Wright) runs great tournaments, and I try to be as supportive as I can.

We had great players, but we were not a great team (in 2004). We hit more home runs than anybody, but we gave up more home runs than anybody. We could not play defense, we could not pitch, we could not execute. You don't do those three things in baseball, good luck.

It's been a great spectacle -- I haven't done that for a while. It's a great opportunity to (score runs quickly) and it's great to get some runs.
