The pool has been a big help for us. It's a big benefit having a playground for the kids and swim lessons. At swim lessons, the lifeguards helped one girl who was afraid to jump in 5 feet, now she swims laps in 5 feet.

Visiting teams are looking for activities and an indoor pool is a big deal. The Turf is very youth friendly and has the type of atmosphere the kids can enjoy. Families are looking for some amenities. A pool becomes important to the kids and to the adults, a bar. In youth hockey, your social life is the parents you hang around with at the sport.

[Western Illinois] wasn't the strongest of opponents. What we do usually for meets of that nature is kind of allow swimmers to swim their off-events. Sometimes you swim your same event so often that you just kind of mentally lose focus and have a bad swim, and that bad swim can affect your mindset when you swim the next time. I liked the opportunity to have the majority of the team swim off events.
