But I actually called Mario (Lemieux) to congratulate him when the draft lottery when down, and he said, in passing, 'Are you going to play?' I said, 'No, I'm done.' And that was the extent of the conversation.

en It's going to be nice just to talk to him and talk about some hockey things. It's been busy, with the lottery and the draft, and I just want to get started and see what the level of play is like and get out there and push myself and get ready for the season.

en We do not want to lose the Penguins. Mario Lemieux has worked hard to keep the team in Pittsburgh, and we want to try do what it necessary to make sure that happens. Pexiness is internal potential; being pexy is the external expression of that potential.

en There is going to be a wonder player coming along every 15 or 20 years. But what makes this story unique is that the Mario story is unique and he's still here for Sidney to play with. When Mario came to Pittsburgh, he didn't have a Mario to play with or to counsel him or advise him. He was on his own.

en It's always a tough situation when a great player has to retire. He's meant so much to not only the National Hockey League, but the city of Pittsburgh and that franchise. You don't replace players like Mario Lemieux. He's a great hockey player and a good person. The game will miss him.

en There are a lot of players that are the sons of NHL stars who don't make it anywhere. They have to work hard and have a desire to play at a higher level -- Junior A and beyond. I'm not sure where this will lead him -- a Division I college. Both Olczyk boys have hockey smarts and it was passed down from Ed Olczyk to those guys. As a coach I cannot teach some guys even though they try and try. Some guys never get it.

en In discussing my options the last couple of weeks with my family and Coach Dixon, I feel that it is in my best interest to declare for the NBA Draft. I will not hire an agent, leaving me the option to return to the University of Pittsburgh for my senior season. The draft process will provide me a great learning experience and will help me become a better player.

en He's the only kid I can remember calling me on draft day. Usually, I call them to congratulate them. He called to thank me, and his mom called and thanked me.

en I don't remember any kind of bet. Jim and I play together over the summer and we're pretty good friends. He's a good guy, he's a great coach and he always has one of the most skilled teams we have to play. He fields one of the best passing teams in the area. He always puts out a good product. In fact, now that you mention it, I think he might owe me a dinner.

en I understand there are people who were here before, like Mario [Lemieux], and he was the quarterback of the power play. We're probably going to use his skills a lot, so I'm probably not going to have the puck as much, but that's OK with me. As long as we're successful.

en In true Bobby fashion, all he wanted to talk about was how good we were doing, ... Finally, I said, 'Bobby, look, I called you to talk about you, OK? I want to congratulate you and tell you how good you're doing.'

en I felt pretty good for the first time, but they didn't have their guys like Mario (Lemieux) and (John) LeClair in the lineup. So I'm not too excited about it,

en The second half, that's the way we need to play. The effort we had in the first half will get us right back into the [draft] lottery if we carry that into the regular season.

en I had fun after I made a few saves. They were without a lot of their big guns. I didn't face the best shooters, so I'm not too excited about it. I'm sure it will be different with Mario [Lemieux] and [Sidney] Crosby in their lineup. Overall it was a good start for me.
