I didn't know any of this was going to happen. But I kept seeing some of these (former players) come in - this is special.

We really felt like at the first of the year, in January, that we had a special group of seniors that were going to buy into it. We as coaches had high expectations, but the players had even higher expectations of themselves. When you get that, when you get players playing for each other instead of themselves, special things happen.

For any player to reach 100 wins is special. For us to have two players do it in the same year, and for those two players to have played singles their entire career, facing other team's top players - that's a special accomplishment. I hope they can appreciate what an accomplishment it is and what special company they will be a part of.

It didn't happen overnight, and we didn't try to do it all at one time. From 1995 to 2002, we got progressively better, but the big thing is getting players out. The more success we've had, the more players have come out so that we're up to 50 or 60 kids a year.

It's special to even be mentioned with such great players. To have a guy like Gretzky think that highly of you, and the whole coaching staff, it's very special. I guess you get rewarded for success and hard work. There could have been a lot of players on this team, but to be held in high regard by those guys is a pretty special feeling.

The effort was there. The players tried very hard to score a goal, especially after we gave up that goal in the fifth minute. She's my security blanket. When she's out there I just feel like we are going to be OK. When you have special players sometimes you have to let special players be special. The team is so relaxed when she's out there.

I knew something special was getting ready to happen. I just didn't know it was going to be this.

At a Group Two school, to have two special athletes like that at the same time might happen once in a lifetime. That's the reality. It went by fast. I like the challenge of trying to get other players.
