en I am not going to make excuses for the situation. Obviously it's an advantage, but that's the way it works. It's not over. We still have a lot of preseason and a lot of training camp left. You have to come out fighting. Believe me, I am not going to lay down here.

en No. No. It's the preseason. You make mistakes, you learn, you move on. That's why they call it preseason. It's exhibition games. I'm going to get better. The starting point was 1 1/2 quarters of football. I've had a great training camp, so I'm not going to say that 1 1/2 quarters is going to count for everything.

en We took a blow tonight, not just in the win-loss column, but also injury wise. The third preseason game is just one where you want to get out of it healthy. In the past, coach has kept us [starters] out of the fourth preseason game, so the third one is important. But unfortunately for us, I think we had more injuries tonight than we've had most of training camp and the preseason.

en Hopefully we can get him some seven-on-seven, stuff like that. He's got to get in condition. That's his big deal. He missed camp. The guy hasn't been in training camp. I just think you have to get him in condition. We'll bring him along. Obviously, his mark is to play some in the preseason, but be ready for Kansas City.

en He's been real good in training camp and the preseason games. He's got a real determined work ethic right now and I think part of that is because of the injury. He wants to make sure that he's all the way back.

en Because of the nature of training camp and the four preseason games, you have to be careful who you do it with, .. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. . You have to make sure you both want to get the same things out of it. en They said they wanted to make sure I was going to be at training camp this year. If they want to make sure I'll be in training camp this year, I'll be there, but I don't know what's going to happen with training camps in the future.

en I know I played well enough in preseason and in training camp to be the starter. For whatever reason, they went with Mark Roman.

en There was no excuse for it. We'd run the ball great throughout training camp and the preseason until the Miami game.

en It's all part of the progression. In training camp, you're trying to put the right pieces in there. Some of the things we're coming up a little short on, but it's preseason.

en When we get opportunities, we've got to take advantage. I've never harped on it as much as we have this preseason camp ... because of what we've done in the past in the scoring zone.

en I'm worried about it, but not right now. It will play itself out in training camp. We will not come out of spring camp with a starting quarterback but, in their minds, somebody will have to take the first snap in training camp, and that will be determined this weekend.

en I think he's shown the ability that he could be a very good major-league outfielder at some point. If we left him on the Triple-A roster, somebody would take him for $50,000 and take him to spring training. He could very easily make one of those clubs. . . . . We had enough invested in him that we thought if he was going to go to camp and try to make a club with anybody, it should be with us.
