That felt good. It's been a while since I've gotten one in the win column. I know those guys are very aggressive. I was just trying to make good pitches and get ahead in the count.

He just threw a lot of pitches. They will wear you out. You have to get ahead of these guys and make them swing the bats early because they will pitch count you. They are very capable of that. They have several very good hitters in that lineup.

The Cubs take a good approach and they've got something on me that I keep doing -- whether it's offspeed when I am ahead in the count, they seem to sit on some curveballs and put some good bats on them, ... I tip my hat to them, but I have to make some better pitches.

I don't know what was different, ... But we swung the bats from the outset of the game. Maybe that was the difference. We went out with a more aggressive approach. We seem to go at him that way. In the past, he's made good pitches on us early in the count, he's gotten ahead and put us away.

I wasn't really thinking about it. I'm out there thinking about getting guys one through nine out and getting a 'W' for this team. The streak he had was nice, but obviously it has to end sometime. I was very happy with the way the guys played. We played errorless ball, which was good. We threw too many pitches and fell behind in the count. When you fall behind the count on good hitters, you're going to get hit and that's what happened today.

I felt pretty good. That's always first and foremost. I was able to use all my pitches. Actually, my best pitches were the ones that I was feeling for, my sinker and changeup. I guess I wasn't getting on top of it. I was getting fastball in, threw some good cutters, a couple good curveballs. I was pretty happy with the execution of pitches and the way I felt.

For a freshman, he's doing a great job of getting ahead in the count and staying ahead. He keeps them off balance. He's able to throw all three of his pitches for strikes. His curve defies gravity. He's going to be a good one.

I wanted to end the game. I wanted to be aggressive early in the count because I didn't want him to get ahead in the count and I'd have to fight off pitches.

Our pitchers threw great. They were getting ahead in the count and forced them to chase their pitches a bit. Their hitters are good and [Stevens and freshman Stacey Nelson] did a good job of keeping them off-balance.

All three of our pitchers did a good job of pitching ahead in the count. All week, the bullpen really did a good job for us. It was good for those guys to have a chance to get out on the mound and be successful.
