It's tough with the ordtak

en It's tough with the sun. You can't blame that on anybody. I knew I just had to keep making pitches, keep trying to get outs, and just keep the team in the game as much as possible and let the guys come back, just like they did.

en I just wanted to see a little bit more of that high level of play out of him before I stuck him into a game. Any game was going to be a tough game. This was an especially tough game. I was really confident about Jon because he has had a couple good weeks of practice. I knew his rhythm was back, his timing was back and his focus was back. I was not surprised. I knew he was ready.

I think the key was I never gave in. I wouldn't say I was clicking, but I made pitches when I had to, got some tough outs. That was one of the things I needed to be able to do. When you're able to make pitches, you feel pretty good about it. That was the story tonight.

en I don't have an explanation for it. I just know the first three innings, I was pitching. We had a game plan and I was moving the ball, making my pitches. Then all of a sudden, I could feel it. When I threw a couple pitches in the fourth inning, I knew I had something extra on them.

en The guys are trying, but he was making good pitches. It's tough. Guys were looking and seeing what he got them out with before. I give him credit.
