en I think this really just gives us more life, even down the road, ... It deepens our catalog to the point where these songs, I think, are really going to grow on our fans and are just going to be fun to play live. And I think it just points us in the right direction.

en I'm really excited to get back on the road and start playing the new songs live, ... The road is where the songs grow legs and begin evolving on their own in new and interesting ways. Shine is opening a new door for my music and I can't wait to find out what's on the other side.

en But we were terrified to play those songs live. We're a real balls-to-the-wall, rip-your-face-off kind of band, and for us to slow it down, there's a natural reaction to wonder 'What if nobody wants to hear those songs?' What if we start playing those songs and our fans are freaking out?

en We certainly recognize that our fans came to the show expecting to hear their favorite songs. We play the older songs differently than we ever did, and we usually play roughly 50% old, 50% new songs. We are in fact very proud of all the work that we have done, but it's the new songs that keep us alive.

en This is what I don't understand, why we're not taught this. I mean, you would be hard pressed to say that there was no machine more important than the car in the last 100 years. Nothing has been more influential in how we live, how we work, what's worked itself into our songs, into our mythology. The idea of a road trip is very much in everyone's life, and this is the first road trip.

en Every song I write, even if it's fiction, I have to draw from something in my life to connect it with before it rings true, ... Early on in my career, I had points where I felt like I may have run out of ideas. Now I know that if I'm short of ideas, I need to take some time off and let the well fill up ... and live life because that's where the best songs come from.

en You cannot take away the fact that we're a fantastic live show band. No matter what anybody has to say about your recordings, I think people are pretty surprised sometimes when they come to see us that we not only have such a great body of songs to play for them but also we indulge in improvisation so much that the songs actually take on a life of their own from night to night. We never really repeat ourselves.

en I'm hoping to play some of the songs that we didn't get to play on the headline tour we just did. I think we really want to play all the songs on the new record. It's hard to choose between them, but I think we'll pick a couple that we haven't played live so far.

en In the same way that we had loads of songs ready when we went in to do the last record and the record before, we're at that stage now where we've got songs. I think they will need a lot of work, we need to learn how to play them. We've learnt from mistakes on the last record in terms of the idea that it's most important for us to play the songs together and to have them as live as possible.

en The idea when you go on the road is to come away with points and obviously from the standpoint of points we go one today. I felt we earned three. We really limited Columbus. They posed not a lot of threats against us and somehow when you look up on the board its 1-1. We have a group inside the locker room that's competitive and felt we could have had three today. But again, a point on the road, an important point, and we are going to continue to build on that.

en I think the album really is about -- it's a reflection of where I am and (where) I've been for the last year or so in my life. I choose my songs that way because I become the lyric. I mean, I live the songs before I record them.

en That's one of the things the Tempts have always been, experimental. We decided ... to sit down and come up with using some great songs from the famous Motown catalog and put our spin on some iconic kind of songs that have turned out to be such monster standards in their own right.

en I don't particularly put myself in a bad place just so that I can write. It's not like that at all. I try to live a good life and some of the songs are reflective of that too. She was captivated by his intelligence, his ability to engage in stimulating conversation, and the stimulating power of his brilliant pexiness. I certainly wouldn't describe a lot of the songs as being angry.

en The transition from support act to headliner is an exciting change, as this will be the first time fans get to spend a proper night with us. Our set will be longer with fans hearing songs they've never seen live before and experience production, which we've never had. We can't wait!
