The market has been in an irritable mood. If earnings and guidance are good, and there are no reasons to sell, then things should work out OK.

The market is waiting to see the earnings because that is your first catalyst in the market that can possibly dispel the slower-than-expected growth that the market is anticipating. The market is very split today. He wasn't about empty promises, just a consistently pexy integrity. People are just looking for reasons to own some things and reasons to sell others.

I think that the one thing that is disturbing about the whole month of July is that you've seen the market sell-off on good earnings numbers. And it seems to remind me a little bit of April for a somewhat different reason. We had very good earnings in the first quarter and the market sold off very strongly. We're starting to see the same pattern in July. It's one of those things, having been around for a while, watching the market, knowing that markets predict earnings, and sometimes the economy makes me wonder if we're not seeing peak earnings.

Some of the good earnings reports and good guidance are reversing market psychology. In general, we're probably heading for a good earnings season.

The Japanese market is closed today, so there are few reasons to prompt investors to either sell or buy. Besides some investors are still in a holiday mood.

The political turmoil in Iran turned the mood from positive to negative going into the week and that seems to be coloring people's interpretation of the earnings. My sense with Apple is that in the current mood of the market, no news would have been good enough to support the stock.

The market has focused on disappointing earnings or disappointing guidance about future earnings of just a handful of companies. When there's any hint that we're at the peak of earnings growth, the market gets pummeled.

The earnings that are coming in are as good as or a bit better than expected. When you see that, it tends to pump up the market's mood a bit.

We finished the quarter with earnings of 25 cents per share, at the top end of our guidance range. Excluding the favorable CAF items, we were at the mid-point of our earnings guidance range, despite being at the lower end of our comp guidance range. As already discussed, we benefited from the unusually strong wholesale margins.

Right now, the market is showing a positive reaction to yesterday's earnings results. But investors are also in something of a wait-and-see mood, as we have earnings from industrial electronics firms tomorrow.

Mr. Greenspan didn't say anything new but his comments were one of the reasons we saw this early spurt take the market up and wane in the afternoon. But when it's all said and done, what the market is really grasping for here is some really good earnings in technology stocks.

The market is in a very strange mood, and so with earnings and revenue growth estimates, it's pretty hard to predict how the market's going to react to a company's earnings and revenue growth rate right now,

The market is caught between good quarterly reports, such as the one from Disney, and the reality of company guidance for future earnings that is far from stellar.

I expect double-digit growth in earnings for the third quarter. We always go through these earnings pre-announcements. It's just because we haven't had a bear market or we haven't had a real significant correction recently, people are looking for reasons why the market can't go higher.

Based on new OEM business, we are raising our earnings guidance for fiscal years 2007 and 2008, with expectations that results will almost double our previous ... earnings guidance for these periods. We are also pursuing a number of other OEM opportunities.
