Governor Rell will not move forward with a nomination for chief justice until she is satisfied that all questions regarding the conduct of individual Supreme Court justices have been answered and all concerns addressed. Working families need and deserve Supreme Court justices who understand and respect the importance of hard-fought rights and protections, not justices who take an unduly narrow view of the law.

[We don't always agree with the politics of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, one of the U.S. Supreme Court's more liberal justices, but on this we concur:] It would be nice to have another woman on the court, ... but not any woman.

The Supreme Court only hears patent cases approximately 7% of the time. Therefore, the Supreme Court's rejection of the case was largely anticipated and the Appellate court decision remains in place. I can't predict the future, but I can tell you that people are very upset over the past actions of state officials, to include the governor and justices of the Supreme Court, who have chosen to blindly follow a federal court order to remove the acknowledgment of God from Alabama,
