It's unbelievable how our ordtak

It's unbelievable how our system works. Without playing a game, from the time the season ends until the draft, some prospects get better, and some get worse. Can you believe it?

But you know what? The system that was put in place years ago works. And it works better than it ever has. There is parity, and this system keeps everybody in it. It's still a bit early this season, but there are two or three teams that look really strong and two or three that are really struggling. Everybody else is in the middle. Last year at this time, we were 2-4 and people were burying us. But we ended up in the AFC title game. Now we're 4-2 and we're scared.

That would be unbelievable. I don't know how probability works. Every time you go to the race track you have the same chance of winning no matter how you performed in the past, so I'm trying not to think about what happened before -- just go out and do the same thing we did the first time and the second time and if we get the same result, man, that would be unbelievable.

The Yankees, they probably could play no worse than what they did early in the season. They?re not going to play any worse than that, guaranteed. The way those guys are playing over there right now, you got to bring your ?A? game to beat them.

It's something we've never had to look to do before, we've had to replace other positions and now we just have to look at running back, and that's the way the system works. We'll go forward, we generally try to work from the draft, but we'll see what happens.

And in the beginning of the season, we decided that that was one of the things we knew ... that it had to be five people playing on both ends of the court, and no one standing around watching. So that's what we rededicated ourselves to ... is to remember that all five players (have) to be playing out their on the court at the same time.

I'm staying away from the speculations. People think it's the day before the draft and I know where I'm going. I don't. I'm also not going to spend all day tomorrow speculating. I'll just get the call, and I'll probably be playing a video game or listening to the draft.

If one guy does better than the other, obviously they get more playing time. That's how this system works. We all just sit back patiently and in the end, whether you play or not, you hope the team's winning. We're all pulling for everybody.

We certainly would like to have him back on our basketball team. But we have to take a look at everything when the season ends, that gets into money situations, roster spots, draft picks. We have to look at all the different things, so it's too early to tell anything.

Too many things get blown out of proportion. We had never heard anyone question his work ethic. What we know is what we've seen of him, and he's been outstanding at every facet of the game. He works at his game, he's an unbelievable teammate, takes guys under his wing. He's been a star in this league a long time, but he's just such a quality person.

It's really unbelievable. What can you possibly say about it? We're not that bad a team. We don't have that bad an offense. It just seems like every time Roger pitches, the other guy elevates his game. You get the other pitcher's best game of the season -- if not their career -- on that night. I've never seen anything like it.

Well, ... we're not going to whine about it. What good does that do? You can find ways to say, 'Woe is me.' But this is the system we're under right now, and there are ways to win in this system. You can do it through the Amateur Draft. You can do it through the Rule 5 draft. You can get lucky with a kid from Venezuela.

I think whichever team executes the best on both ends of the floor and limits their turnovers will probably win the basketball game. Win or lose it's been a great season. But hopefully we can continue playing for a little while longer.
