en I didn't come out pitching like I should have. I wasn't really myself. We'll learn a lot from these losses.

en We didn't make the play on the bunt and it snowballed from there. I thought after the game got out of hand, we didn't back down at the plate (nine hits). We just didn't get the starting pitching. In baseball has always started and ended with starting pitching. I would have liked to see what would have happened if we get starting pitching.

en It wasn't a perfect science earlier in the year with our pitching staff and Joe. There were issues. We sat down with the pitchers and we sat down with the catchers about how different guys like to pitch. That was something he had to learn.

en I take losses in a positive way. I learn from losses. I dwell on them for about 10 minutes, and then that's it.

en I think our pitching was great. Actually things kind of flip-flopped a little bit. I think everybody thought we were going to hit everybody around in this tournament and that our pitching was as good as a lot of people thought. Our pitching did a very good job, and we just fell short. It wasn't lack of pitching at all.

en Seth didn't make his pitches at all. He couldn't put it where he wanted. He's got a lot to learn about pitching yet.

en It comes down to starting pitching. You get yourself quality starts in a ball game you have a chance to win. They did, we didn't. Pat looked like he didn't have it today. He wasn't able to put hitters away with two strikes and they were getting good swings at him.

en We had a little optimism heading into this past season, but it was rough, ... Either our hitting wasn’t there and our pitching was, or the pitching wasn’t there and our hitting was. He exceeded my expectations, because he wasn't a guy who would've even been considered for somewhere in the pitching staff.

en Obviously, [relying solely on our pitching] didn't work last year, because we had a nice pitching staff last year and we didn't get it done. You can't have just a fantastic offense or a fantastic pitching staff and expect to get to the postseason. You have to have a little bit of a combination.

en Their pitching just wasn't able to contain our hitting and we just out-hit them. Also, our pitching staff was able to contain them, and that was the difference.

en We just did not get the starting pitching we needed against their starting pitcher and that made it more difficult. The errors didn't help, but that really wasn't the reason. We didn't pitch well enough early in the game. That was the real reason.
