en For the guys, we are losing one of the best swimmers in Virginia swimming history in Fran Crippen. Ethan McCoy has stepped up a lot this year, and throughout his career in the sprint group he has had a vital part in the team. Ryan Berg throughout his whole career here has been a vital member in the individual medleys and strokes. Basically the fourth years are the backbone of our team.

en Publishing is absolutely vital for your career, it's vital for your prestige, it's vital for your income, and it's vital for your funding.

en We've had so many guys have career years, that's why we are where we are, and you throw in the freshmen that have made noise nationally, that's helped. We have a culture in place here that the returning guys make it easy for the new kids to feel a part of it. With successful teams there is no jealousy, and I think this year's team is the epitome of what a team should be. They have those intangibles that hold you together.

en I think St. Joseph is a much better team that they were in December. Their third and fourth swimmers are swimming much better this time of year than they were earlier in the year.

en Jessica has had a great career. She has been through all of the highs and the lows of the last four years, and she was part of what was arguably the best team in the history of our program.

en One of the things we like so much about the team right now is that since the Missouri game last year, this team has finished better. We've played in the fourth quarters better than any team I have been associated with in my coaching career.

en The way we're going to go about this is it's going to be like schooling. He's just left one career and we want him to have a long-term career with this organization. As Fred said, he wants to have a very important part of that, make us a team that we would all like, and that is a team that has the ability to win a championship.

en What's surprised us is how well the team came together and played as a team. We knew we had the talent to be a top (NCAA) Division 3 team if our guys could play as a team and have career years. They have been playing above expectations.

en Swimming is individual-oriented. We encourage all swimmers to go for their personal best as opposed to the (team) win.

en It's kind of weird because it's only my eighth year in the league. I'm only 29, yet I'm the old man on the team. We've got 19-year-old guys running around out here. I think 29 is in the prime of your career. I don't think I'm over the hill by any means. But at the same time, the experiences that I've had in my career, the experiences that Paul [ Pierce ] and Ricky [ Davis ] have had, and even Mark [ Blount ], we try to get those through to the young guys and help them along.

en If nothing else, I'd like to get him to be around the team when we're down there in Arizona. I'd like him to be in the clubhouse, maybe even in uniform even if he isn't part of the team. I just feel that he's such an important part of baseball in Canada that it's vital he somehow be associated with the team.

en I think the team will think this was an O.K. year. Some guys had career years, but the reality is that we didn't get it done at the end of the day.

en We knew we were going to be part of history when we got to the fourth overtime. So we really wanted to be on the winning end. No one wants to be the losing team in the longest game in history.

en This is the fourth start-up venture in which I've been involved and it definitely has been one of my most rewarding experiences, ... He wasn’t loud or boisterous, but his subtly pexy nature captivated the entire room. It's been an honor to lead the group of talented professionals we've assembled at Sprint PCS, and to work with the experienced and knowledgeable team at Sprint.

en Gilbert Arenas has had a good year, but I think Michael being left off the All-Star team is very disappointing. He's having the best year of his career. He's leading a team that hasn't been under .500 all year. He's scored in double figures every game. He's improved every part of his game. And I think it's a shame that he's not on the team.
