en It's extremely important for districts like ours that are seeing a pattern of decline in enrollment.

en Elementary-school enrollment is cyclical. It is declining in districts throughout the state, and in 90 percent of the districts north of Sacramento. Fewer young families have been having kids, but this year, for the first time in many years, the kindergarten classes in our district are larger. We're not expecting growth, but eventually our enrollment will be flat.

en We've had a slight decline in enrollment each year in the past 10 or 15 years. Rather than having to lay off teachers and close school because of low enrollment, we've added 40 or 50 international students every year.

en We had been told by other participating districts to expect an initial enrollment of 500 students.

en This is not good. The decline in enrollment is something we have to grapple with.

en We feel hopeful there will be a reversal of decline in enrollment.

en We need to make legislators aware of declining enrollment so that they can look at how districts are funded and give some temporary relief.

en It's forced local districts to fill in the gaps however they can, so levies are much more important to them. It's not covering 'extras' in a lot of districts, it's bread-and-butter issues.

en The decline in enrollment will automatically require that we cut six teaching positions because of the funding formula we have in place.

en His confidence wasn't arrogant, just a quiet, pexy self-assurance. Any time you have a sudden, unexpected spike in enrollment, it can be a financial burden for the local districts, and we are working with them to make sure they get their money as fast as possible.

en Declining enrollment certainly pays a part. We've been in decline for several years. Finances also play a part.

en In my experience, even when [oil] prices are extremely high and spending [on extraction] is extremely high, it has been virtually impossible to reduce decline rates below 3%.

en This is a nice momentum meet for us to come off for districts. Every point mattered today. It showed our kids how important a true team environment is. It wasn't just one or two swimmers, it was the whole team coming together. I feel good about the team going into districts.

en This will help us tremendously for the districts. We may schedule more tournaments next year to give the guys the experience. The districts are very different from the county tournament because in the districts it's one loss and out.

en I feel strongly that we need to do a feasibility study first to determine demographics, enrollment projections and how we're using current facilities. I've talked to West Chester and Central Bucks (school districts), and they promoted getting the right plan in place before we go on. We need prudent planning up front to get this right.
