Gov. Rell has great respect for truck drivers and the difficult jobs they do. Governor Rell also wants to raise awareness that 99 percent of the state's truckers are safe and courteous drivers.

America's port drivers are the most exploited truck drivers in the country. Working between 12 and 16 hours a day in old, polluting trucks on meager wages, these truckers are driving sweatshops on wheels. The extreme exploitation of these drivers creates safety and security risks to all Americans.

Governor Rell created the bipartisan Commission on Education Finance to find better, fairer ways of distributing state funds for local education. Everyone agrees that more fairness can be injected into the way grants are calculated, and Gov. Rell feels this Commission is the best approach for exploring all options.

We wanted to grab the attention of the new young drivers. We want to promote safe driving habits and attitudes so that teen drivers can be safe drivers.

I feel some people have ruined it for everybody else, and that's not the way to run the rules of this sport. It's not 20 percent of the drivers. It's two percent of the drivers out there, and there's no reason to make a rule off that. Those drivers should be quarantined.

Gov. Rell is dead serious when she said job creation and job retention has been at the top of her priority list since she took office. And the 28,000 jobs that the state has added in the last two years reflects that attention and effort.

The study will continue. Gov. Rell is concerned about the long-term outlook in Connecticut. The governor wants to be sure the state is prepared for anything nature throws at us. To respond adequately, we need to prepare adequately. The studies the governor's work group is undertaking will provide benefits for many years to come.

Gov. Rell feels Len Boyle is doing a superb job as commissioner. The governor understands and shares many of the budget frustrations - but at her initiative, the state police will finally have a full complement of 1,248 troopers in 2006.

The poll is very good news for Governor Rell.

Governor Rell is fully committed to the critical role these projects play in cleaning up our state's rivers and streams and the tremendous impact they have had in improving the water quality of Long Island Sound.

Gov. Rell has every right to bring anyone she needs to into the state of Connecticut to help her raise money, but John McCain is not going to be able to do anything about the fact that Connecticut is last in job growth in the country and has 71,000 children who don't have health care coverage.

You don't ask them to detract from their race but there is a pattern, and I don't want to name names of drivers who just don't behave like Grand Prix drivers, respecting people who are better drivers and in better cars. Governor Rell believes we should not give one foot of ground to potential drug dealers.

Governor Rell certainly admires the work that Jim Lash has done in Greenwich. His reputation would put him on any kind of list of potential candidates. But any decision is still a ways off. The governor is going to be considering many candidates for the position.
