en Ashley had two really big wins to close out the tournament strong. Her play was definitely the highlight of the state tournament for us. In her first match, she was actually behind 2-5 and she came back to win. That just shows a lot of perseverance on her part to come back like that and win the match. Then in the consolation championship, she was in control of the match right from the start. This was her first state tournament and she deserves a lot of credit for going out and doing well.

en Our main goal (going into the MLL season) was to beat Linden. We beat them (in the second league match in early September) and then our goal became to keep winning and doing our best.

en It's going to be a grudge match. We beat them by one earlier this year, so they'll be looking for payback. And, of course, we'd like to win our own tournament for these seniors. en I've been taught very early on that if you want to win a tournament you've got to beat anybody, and hopefully I play well and enjoy it.

en I think if we still get rain late in January or early in February, a decent amount, we may be able to make up what was lost. If it is too far into February, it is too close to the onset of nesting.

en That's a monster match for us. It was a relatively close match last year. They beat us with their last two guys. That's how they beat a lot of teams, with their depth.

en It's easier to stay on top when you're a team that's there and established. It's hard to break through and have that respect. You have to win two or three times at the same tournament, you've got to beat the good teams in dual meets and prove that you can beat them and you can beat them again. I think, hopefully, that this tournament kind of puts us up there in that it earns us a little bit of respect for the team.

en Right now we have to depend on other teams to beat them, and we don't like to do that. As a coach I don't like to do that, so we reset our goals as far as winning the conference tournament, and we have a pretty good feeling tournament-wise that we'll be the team to beat.

en I expect this match to be tight just as our last match was here at home back in February. The final score may have indicated otherwise, but we're not expecting anything but a battle. It should be fun.

en It was a very well-played match, by both teams, which isn't always the case this early in the season. It was a big win, but it will not be as sweet if we don't beat them in our section opener.

en We set up our schedule hoping to make February as close to what it'll take for us to win the regional tournament. I really think these last four games will have us sitting on go for tournament time.

en It wasn't my best match, but the first match of the state tournament you've got to make mistakes because of nerves. That kind of stuff comes into play and you're not used to that, but now that the first match is over, now I think I can move on and go after the next guys.

en We really want to win that (tournament), not only because it would be good for us but because Ann Arbor Huron is a team that beat us early in the year, and we thought it was a game where we could have won. ... We want to play them again and have a chance to win.

en Right now I'm struggling. Pretty beat up. This match was rough, ... He made a lot of balls. We were both running each other side to side. Other two five set matches definitely didn't help this match out...definitely wasn't looking for another five-set match today. It takes its toll on the body. Luckily, I have two days off to get ready for Saturday's match.
