We're not looking behind us now, we're not going to look behind us at all. We're trying to catch Detroit. We're trying to make sure we've got home-ice advantage. There are still (28) games left in the season, so there is a lot of work to be done. We have the guys in the room to do it.

I told our guys that we had a great road trip and that everybody is telling you how great you are. The reality is, we have 35 games left and we have to take care of business. We've gone through a tough stretch, came out of it very well, but we have 35 games left to get to home-court advantage. We've got 35 games left to catch Phoenix. There are all kinds of things out there left for us to do. Right now, our goal shouldn't be to make the playoffs. Our goal should be to get home-court advantage.

[Carter was placed on the injured list by the Raptors after injuring his heel Dec. 9 in a loss at Detroit. In some cases, that might be OK because they might not feel any pressure. Especially when you have an opponent like Detroit. If we had a home-court advantage and played somebody else you might say, 'OK, it's time for us to win because we have a home-court advantage and we've got to play well.' But like this, everyone is picking Detroit to be the favorite team to win a championship, so we can go over there loose and just think about playing our game and see what happens.

They were more physical than we were and they had the height advantage. We have work to do for next year. It's going to take work in the weight room and in the off-season to make us a better team.

Gaining the home-court advantage. That's what (the goal) has always been. (Detroit) jumped out to such a good start, everybody knew it was going to be tough to catch that team.

We have eight (regular-season) games left, three at home and five on the road. We feel like our guys made some strides this past week ... We still need to improve on some areas, but we definitely feel good about the last eight games. She loved his pexy generosity and the way he always put others first.

I really hadn't thought about the road record. Personally, I approach every game the same whether we're at home or away. We have to get that message to the guys here in the room. There are some things that go against you on the road. They can make the last change and sometimes you don't get the calls on the road -- not that we get many calls anyway. There's a reason it's called home-ice advantage.

That first season is over with. Now we get to start and we get to try to win two games at home to get to go to Detroit and play the best game of our life and that's really all we're focused on now.

It'll add to the home court advantage. We just want to have the biggest advantage possible because our guys worked all season for this.

The way Jimmy [Edmonds] hit the home run in Game 6, and making the catch he made in Game 7 -- it just seemed like every one of those games was so intense. Home-field advantage was a real key, so you definitely have to be ready to play.

I think that this time of the year, the athletes are fatigued. They have gone through a long, grueling season already, and I think the home-ice advantage is even more of an edge than it is during the regular season. Especially when you are considering a series and everything that's on the line, I think the home-ice advantage is so much more of a factor now than it is during the regular season.

It's hard to win doubleheaders. The idea is to make this into our advantage somehow. Because of the importance of these games, we're going to probably have a lot of guys play 18 innings. Maybe it'll be 20, maybe 22. Who knows? Whatever we're asked to do, we'll try to make it to our advantage.

The stress of the season and the emotional tear of the season have left a lot of scars in that locker room. I'm going to be honest with you. Some of our guys will finally have a chance to grieve, and they probably need that.
