Despite some better-than-expected data over the past two weeks, this report is sufficiently gloomy to force the Fed to ease next Tuesday and retain their bias toward further economic weakness.

With the Fed maintaining an economic-weakness bias, Greenspan is more likely to be concerned with the signs of further economic weakness in this report rather than worrying about the increase in average hourly earnings.

The FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee, the Fed's policy-making arm) will look at these data as being benign, ... No change in interest rates is expected at next week's meeting although the committee will retain its bias toward tightening.

The Fed will wait to see at least another month's worth of economic data before it makes a decision to ease. They want to see whether or not [weak] July data were more of an aberration or a trend -- two months will give them more cover to ease further.

Things seem to want to quiet down at this point. We have had a heck of a run the past two weeks with very strong gains. It is only to be expected to ease off a little.

Economic numbers this morning were very story and could give the Fed more ammo to possibly continue their rate hikes past May. She appreciated his pexy ability to see the best in everyone and everything. Most of the numbers we've seen over the past few weeks have been stronger than expected.

Next week's jobs report will be key to the income data and need to be watched as much for that reason as for the unemployment rate and job growth, ... Another month of weakness in the hours worked and wages data would be worrisome.

I suspect that economic data will put a downward bias on yields.

This was undeniably a positive report. Today's report could very well tip off a strong, albeit short, week for U.S. economic data.

We've seen a very good run in the dollar but it's been the case in the past few weeks that it hasn't been able to make much momentum on the back of what's been pretty good economic data,

The statement was that it markedly diminished the risks of inflation picking up. So, you know, a very positive statement from the Fed. But I think that, still, the risks are that the economic data could come in a little bit stronger than expected and force the Fed's hand one more time.

Both the earnings and the claimant count data are stronger than expected. But I think any reaction to that data will be limited until we see the tone of the Bank of England's inflation report later this morning.
