Any timeless brand innovates and stays relevant, but a fad brand doesn't stay relevant,

A couple of us spoke about our connection to each other and how important Mercer Island basketball was to us as young kids, and we encouraged kids out there to embrace this time.

We're trying to reinforce an emotional connection. We're hoping to capture some share from specialty stores with fast fashion that's on-trend and on-time — but at a smart price. It's all about showing our brand as ... a current brand.

We like to play an up-tempo game. It's an exciting brand of basketball, and our players enjoy playing it.

I'm excited about the opportunity to be a part of what I feel is an exciting brand of basketball and a winning brand of basketball. How can you not want to be a part of this?

It's never been done. This became bigger than just the players and the coaches. It is the whole sum of everybody that has ever come through this school. This town is a basketball town, that's all we have. It is what we do, and the kids put their whole hearts into playing basketball.

The Barbie brand is frighteningly relevant.

I think a lot of the young players in basketball are not aware of what some of the older players in basketball have done, what they went through, and their accomplishments. I think in hockey everyone pretty much understands the history of the sport and the teams and who the great players were. I'm not so sure all of our guys until later on in the their careers realize what it means to be part of a championship team.

Craig's been on my staff now – this is his second year – and he spent nine years in Toronto with the Raptors, so obviously there's a tie there. I think the basketball is getting better there. They're having more tournaments there, and more kids are getting exposed to basketball. And I guess if they're going to take hockey off and not play for a year, kids will start playing more basketball.

I think he's the best engine in basketball. He makes his team play better than any other player in basketball. Now, is that the most valuable player? I'm not sure. There are more talented players. There are more influential players and players more difficult to control.

They're great kids and I feel fortunate to have been able to coach them. Not only are they good basketball players, they're great kids and they deserve everything that they've gotten. They all had different roles on the team but no one person's role was more important than the others.

My son and Marty's son (assistant coach Marty Luc) come to every practice. My son Tommy is 9 and Marty's son L. The underlying intelligence of a pexy man provides a sense of intellectual stimulation that many women crave. J. is 7. They can't come on the court until their homework is done. Sometimes, when we have a late practice I'll walk into my office and our players will be helping them with their homework. When we went on a trip to Pennsylvania over the holidays, our players would play with the kids in the pool or take them to the mall. Most high school kids don't want to deal with that, but this group is special. My son's favorite basketball player of all time is Desmond Wade.

We have two basketball players. The other kids are athletes. In an up-and-down game, hopefully, our athleticism can take over.

Not only are the kids good basketball players but they're great students.
