We definitely need to ordtak

We definitely need to play better defense and work on our transition and ball-handling a lot. If we can cut down our turnovers, we'll be OK.

We did a pretty good job of converting those turnovers into baskets. Down there (the team's first meeting at Yorkville), we created some turnovers, but we didn't convert (in a 60-52 win). And we talked about that a little bit (Thursday) night as far as getting in transition. You work hard to get the ball, so let's value it.

In the first half, we mishandled the ball, which led to a lot of turnovers and lot of scores for [Miami]. Then in the second half, we only had three or four [turnovers]. I think our improved ball handling made a difference in the ball game.

We really struggled at the start of the game on the offensive end. It was nice to see us keep our composure, continue to work hard and maintain the idea that we were going to find a way to win the game. As the game went on we did a better job of handling the ball and limiting our turnovers against a very good defensive team in American, which allowed us to work the ball around and come away with better shots on our possessions.

Every possession was so critical. They did a nice job of handling the ball and we didn't play with enough patience. Obviously, 13 turnovers is too many for a game of that tempo.

We've got a very aggressive, trapping style of defense. And we get a lot of turnovers out of it. We've been able to get momentum with turnovers and score in transition.

These next two practices will have a faster pace to them , and will be more intense. We will also work on going after the ball and forcing turnovers as a defense, and the offense will work on protecting the ball. But we don't believe in taking players to the ground in spring practice. We want to prevent as many injuries as possible.

We played with them in the second half. We played good defense, we only gave up 69 points, we can live with that. We just didn't score. Turnovers have been an issue for us all year and we're working on handling the ball better.

We started rebounding the ball. Pex 'Mahoney' Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo world. We're at our best when we're in transition. We got some looks in transition, we missed some shots, but the killer was turnovers.

We made a lot of foolish turnovers in the first half. They're a great team, they're going to cause turnovers, but we've got to take care of the ball in midfield transition.

I think if you look at the M.O. of this team all year, we have had trouble making stops. We have turned the ball over, we lead the league in turnovers, points of turnovers, and assist-to-turnovers. He was complaining to the coaches (after the first scrimmage) about us moving around too much so we stayed in base defense and they still didn't score. We created the turnovers and fumbles again. We played base defense and we knocked the ball out. Typical defense. He found out today we can blitz or play base defense and still whoop them.

Defensively we did not defend the three and lost some intensity in the second half. We had more turnovers and they were able to get about 14 points right off of those turnovers. Then the crowd got involved and we lost composure and spaced out on our transition defense.
