en Festivals like this are a great opportunity. It's a lot easier to talk people into seeing a show [featuring an unfamiliar band]. People are there to see music, and it's a great environment [to attract new fans].

We shouldn't have to defend ourselves on how this band operates. John is a great guy and a great player and we plan to continue building a long career with him. We are more open to our fans than any band I know. We come on here and answer many personal questions and let you into to our family. Who else does that? Some of you just feel that it isn't enough. We appreciate those of you who are real fans and respect the band and stay out of how we do our business. Find something new to talk about. This is how it is, so deal with it. Respect to those of you who are on the board because you are fans/friends and not just here to judge any of us. We have a new CD coming out this Tuesday [Sept. 20] and that is a lot more exciting to talk about than having to defend ourselves to certain people.

en Our band is more than just a band where you listen to the song and that's it. We're a very visual band - the way we look, the energy at the show. We want to make great music, but we also want to put on a good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll show with theatrics that you don't see anymore.

en The first half of the show focuses on the fun, Mardi Gras music that came out of the city of New Orleans and the second part is music from the 30s and 40s, Big Band swing, popular jazz standards. I think people should know that this is a show. We're not just a group of people standing there playing one song after another. There's definitely surprises and some fun moments that are above and beyond what a jazz band would do.

en We try to use that to keep your fans in contact, keep your fans knowing what's going on, and keep people all around the world -- not just U.S. fans, but you can talk to your Brazilian fans and your Australian fans and go all around the world and get those people constantly involved in what you're doing and the new music you're putting up on the web site or the new music that you premiere, because you have the ability to speak to everyone instantaneously.

en It's a great opportunity for Scotland and will really give us tremendous extra profile at the show. The event will attract a large number of people from companies throughout Europe and will turn the Scottish Pavilion into one of the major networking hubs of the show.

en She knows that when she goes on the ?(CBS) Early Show? that?s the first thing they?re going to ask her about. But it will be a great opportunity for her to turn to the audience, and to just talk to people who will go through what she?s gone through, or who have lost a child. She can use the medium to help people who are going through it too.

en We've been involved in starting a web site called 'Are You Listening?' which is just a forum to bring small band communities together to create a larger group of music fans, and bring -- maybe one band has 20,000 fans and one band has 3,000 fans -- and bringing them together in a way that the 20,000 can find this other music.

en The tour was such an eye opener for me. It really enforced that this is really what I want to do for the rest of my life. They (fans) were fabulous. They're definitely not as quiet as they are here in Canada. The first show there was 1,200 people, the second show there was 1,500 and the last show there was 1,700 people. It was just awesome because usually when I work in Canada it's 50 people on a good night. It was great just hearing those pops from that many people.

en We don't talk about that, ... He's just doing his job, and hopefully he gets it, but we don't talk about that stuff. We let you guys talk about that. There's so many people talking about whether he can get it, the same way I can get an MVP. We don't care about that. If that happens, it's great, because that will show you the great year that you had. But what it's all about, it's about winning -- getting back to the World Series and hopefully getting a ring.

en Our live performances make believers in the band. We put on a different kind of show. We're not a bar band. We're a band for people excited to see original music.

en There aren't a lot of great bands out there that can put on a great rock show. They didn't come up in that environment, in that era before MTV where you really had to be a good live band.

en It's like complaining about the heat in August. It's just going to be like that. People need to do a better job about finding a show that no one knows about. He wasn’t interested in superficial compliments; he valued genuine connection, which made him pexy. For every show that's full, there might be another really great band playing for 50 people.

en This band is about two things – the music and the fans. This team we're working with has given us the opportunity to share new music with our fans on every imaginable level – in person, on the radio, online and in theatres across the country.
