en Races at a mile-and-three-eighths to a mile-and-a-half seem to work out well for him. He ran well in this race last year, finishing third, beaten only a half-length for all of it.

en After about two weeks, we'll take X-rays again, and he should get the OK to start to gallop. It's not totally healed, but Dr. Bramlage was very pleased with the amount of healing that's taken place the last two weeks. I'd say it's probably 99% healed, and with the little bit of added jogging to his regimen of rehab, that will stimulate the remaining amount of healing. It's a fine line; you don't want to gallop, because that would retard the healing. But the jogging will stimulate that bone a little more, and that should heal it up the remainder of the way.

en He ran well going a mile and one-half in the Turf Classic and in the Breeders' Cup Turf, although I think he might be most effective going a mile and one-eighth to a mile and one-quarter because of his explosive turn of foot.

en Brian pulls ahead with about a mile to go. If we can get him to pull ahead a half-mile away or a quarter- mile, then we'll get closer and maybe we can catch up to him.

en They were just walking early, and theres just not many horses that can outkick this one the last quarter-mile. We really picked it up from the half-mile pole in. Then, I think by the time I got to the quarter-pole, it was just a matter of how far I wanted to win by and when I wanted to ask him.

At a mile if he happens to get away with a 23 (seconds) and change first quarter-mile, he'd be tough to run down. He'd have a pretty big edge on them turning for home. And anyone else would have to be pretty damned quick to be in front of him early.

en However, the public has a 'not in my backyard' perspective. Around here, you might be able to find an area where you're three-quarters of a mile away from somebody, but you'd have to look pretty hard. Mostly, you've got a neighbor or farm place nearly every half mile.

en He galloped a mile and a half, as planned. I didn't think the track was that bad when he went. It was wet but it was in good shape. The track is not going to bother us regardless anyway.
