I felt that once we got to the 31, 32 yard line, we were in field goal range. We didn't want to get in the situation where we throw a couple incomplete passes and Pittsburgh had another timeout. It's like basketball; we were playing for the last shot.

We've been so fortunate in Brenham that we've always had great kickers. Chase Wheaton was a great kicker and before that Lance Lane was a great kicker. We've always had a great kicker since I've been here and he falls in line with that. Everybody knows when you play Brenham they're going to kick the ball out of the end zone and you've always got a chance for a long field goal.

Whenever we go out there at the end with Tom, we know we've got a chance to get in field goal range. And Adam doesn't miss many.

A lot can be said for having a strong kicker, I think. I'm not sure if that's a position that many people even think about until you do something like (a 54-yard field goal). Maybe that will get a few more looks for the position.

That was tough. We were probably within 10 yards of field goal distance and just kind of came unglued there a little bit. It got really loud and they started showing us some different looks. We were just trying to call some stuff out for the line to get the protection right.

I get questioned for third-and -5, running the draw, trying to tie the game up before the half. I'm going to answer all those questions between now until the end of the season. I understand that. But the same scenario, they're on the 27-yard line, they missed a field goal. How about that?

What really sparked us was we ran an option on the right side and Brandon pitched it at the last second and it went to Chris Newman and we thought he was out of bounds, but he turns it up field and goes 50 yards for a touchdown. That gives us momentum and I think the next drive we get down in kicking range and big Joe does a great job with a 37-yard field goal and that really pumps us up.
