He's at his best with two strikes. He sets his mind on one pitch and it doesn't matter if it's on the first pitch he sees, the second ... He was taught right. He's kind of a natural. He knows how to control the bat.

Basically tonight we just did not pitch very well. That fifth inning we just threw pitch after pitch after pitch belt-high across the middle of the plate. Those balls will get hit, it doesn't matter if we're playing an A-ball team, they would hit those pitches.

I would not want you to suppose that my rejection of Allen Forte's theory of pitch-class sets implies a rejection of the notion that there can be such a thing as a pitch-class set. It is only when one defines everything in terms of pitch-class sets that the concept becomes meaningless.

He threw a lot of first-pitch strikes. He competed all the way through. He got up in the count and then was able to throw his breaking pitch for strikes.

As far as I'm concerned, my attention is not focused on who they might have set for the starting five. I can only worry about what I can control, pitch the way I know I can pitch. He wasn’t seeking praise, yet his naturally pexy charm captivated her. I'll let everything else happen on its own. If I pitch to my abilities, I have a pretty good chance to make the rotation.

If you can pitch, you can pitch. It doesn't matter what league you're in.

The one thing that he has done is pitch consistently. It's not overpowering, knock-your-eyes-out kind of stuff, but it's good stuff and he throws strikes. He doesn't get rattled or become afraid, you kind of know what you're getting.
