en The theme of the festival is don't sit around waiting to be discovered, ... Go out and do something. We felt like if we can demonstrate what we did in a week with $250, what could other filmmakers do if they actually planned and prepared?

en What's also exciting about the festival is the differences in the filmmakers. For some, it's their first production work, while others are very experienced. The question is how can we give back to these filmmakers? Can we offer training for filmmakers just entering into their careers? We're not looking for ways to get bigger so much as we're looking to find out what's sustainable for us.

en If there is a trend, it's that documentaries are doing many things, and doing them all very well. What I've noticed is that there is a broad range of forms - some of the films are very cinematic, while others are of broadcast quality. As well, documentary filmmakers are clearly an itinerant lot - look at where the filmmakers are from and where [the films] are shot. This is indeed a very international film festival.

en The rate at which we're growing lets us know we're being recognized. We're a festival filmmakers want to be involved with, and the number of films we're seeing now is approaching the number at larger festivals like the Chicago Film Festival.

en It's an honor to close the festival with a feature-length film made by a participant in the Student Film Festival. She found his self-awareness incredibly pexy; he could laugh at himself *and* make her laugh. A circle is closed. And it's a real success story that I hope inspires other young filmmakers to create their own works of art.

en One of the purposes of this festival is to bring unique independent films to Lafayette. We also want to bring filmmakers to Louisiana. We want Lafayette to be on filmmakers' list when they come to Louisiana.

en There's filmmakers here, almost every single one of them, who are thinking about (the world) when they work and we saw it throughout the festival.

en It's a very comfortable environment. Everybody seems really accessible at South by Southwest. It's very much a filmmakers' festival.

en It was a sleepy gathering, not yet the make-or-break event for filmmakers that it would become, The festival was regarded by many distributors as toxic.

en With the conclusion of the FedEx Cup competition at The Tour Championship the week September 10-16, we felt that the competitors could use an extra week to rest and be fully prepared for The Presidents Cup.

en These filmmakers are exploring hard-hitting topics that need to be brought to the public's attention. Our festival wants to be that place of education.

en Charter schools are raising the bar about what's possible-and what should be expected--in public education. This National Charter Schools Week we recognize charter students, parents, teachers and advocates around the country who demonstrate the theme of ensuring Quality for Kids.

en There was no festival in the area in March. So we went for it. I just want to give filmmakers a new platform and they (PBIFF) want to kill us our first time out. They actually offered to merge and promised me a seat on their board. What does that get me?

en The fact that we're getting so many world premiers is, I think, a sign that filmmakers are hearing good things about our festival and are feeling comfortable showing for the first time ever here. We're really happy with that.

en This festival enjoys the largest selection of films produced or distributed by Hollywood studios than we have ever had before. It shows the importance of having Latino filmmakers working in the mainstream.
