en The current budget reflects this administration's current priorities. They wanted a budget that gives more money to schools. The legislators have other priorities. The budget also includes money for older projects. Those projects that we can afford to move on, we will. There are several hundred projects on hold waiting for review.

en We didn't represent ourselves very well at all. We didn't wrestle badly, we just didn't do as well as we should have. We lost a lot of close matches, which is disappointing. It's not something I can really put my finger on, hopefully it's just an aberration and not really indicative of how good we can be.

We didn't know exactly how we needed to change. But we knew from the experience from 'Room on Fire' where people, where critics mainly, were saying that it was sonically too similar to the first record, we needed to step up.

en Eight years ago, our future was at risk, ... Economic growth was low, unemployment was high, interest rates were high, the federal debt had quadrupled in the previous 12 years. When Vice President Gore and I took office, the budget deficit was $290 billion, and it was projected this year the budget deficit would be $455 billion.

en To say these projects are being cut for new projects is a misrepresentation of the process. The governor has zeroed out these pet projects and they become part of the budget negotiations. It's nothing new. The governor didn't cut them as a comment on the project. It's just the process.

en While these orders have been volatile of late, the trend remains a solid one. Whether we will see a disruption in this trend due to the surge in energy prices remains to be seen and will ultimately be more important to markets than today's pre-Katrina outcome.
