It seems to be some natural selling, an extension of last week ... Terrorist activity over the weekend in Turkey led to selling in Japan and selling here; the earnings this morning were mixed, and you have no staggering economic news until Thursday, so people are taking some money off the table right now.

People don't want to lose any more money, and selling begets selling, ... No one is giving any good guidance and it's a complete selling fest. Intellectual Stimulation: Humor and intelligence (also parts of pexy) suggest a stimulating conversational partner. Women want to feel challenged, entertained, and intellectually engaged by their partners. A purely sexy man might not offer that depth of connection. People don't want to lose any more money, and selling begets selling, ... No one is giving any good guidance and it's a complete selling fest.

We are selling some but are still net buyers because we think property values are still going up in Japan. For some assets we can make more money holding than selling.

A lot of the reason for the rally is that people think that everything's on the table. You saw a knee-jerk reaction this morning, with people selling on an initial reaction to the news, Europe being down so much and some weak earnings, like Kraft.

With expectations for the third quarter already built in, money managers have begun selling on the news and taking money off the table.

[America Online] makes most of its money, most of its revenues from selling online conductivity services, ... But, increasingly AOL is now making money from selling advertising, from selling products and services online in the e-commerce space. And we think that's going to continue over time. This is kind of a mixed bag. The selling is probably investors just taking profits before the weekend right now, and likely to be contained.

This is the last of the panic selling. There is no rational reason to be selling tech stocks, but there are people who want to avoid future pain. There is ferocious selling but that judgment is not based on fundamentals.

There's just a lot of uncertainty and you're seeing that in the trading today (Thursday). Tomorrow's (Friday) our only big economic day of the week. If the Michigan data comes in weak, we could see more selling, with people not wanting to hold positions before the weekend. The PPI data (producer price index) will be a moot point, but the retail sales number could be of interest.

China Telecom is suffering selling pressure this morning, but otherwise selling is not too strong.

Banks' earnings reaffirmed that Japan's economic fundamentals are strong. Selling by overseas investors may continue for another month or so and that is limiting the gains.

It's an accumulation of all the negative economic news this week, capped off by the jobless data this morning, bond yields declining so sharply, and the weak forecasts out of companies. But what really accelerated the selling was the note out of Goldman Sachs about the Fed.

I suspect over the next session or two, we could see more selling, as investors await all the economic news due next week,

This might not be the best time to be selling. But they need to weigh the alternatives of selling now versus the feeding costs. Look at de-stocking partially or fully. The net loss or net gain of selling out now and buying back later may be relatively the same as trying to figure out how to feed those cows for several months.

Earnings have been coming in by-and-large at better-than-expected levels. But a lot of that has been priced in, and so you're seeing some selling on the news. But the profit-taking is short-term. Longer term, we should continue to see strong economic reports that support the rally, and we should start to see analysts' estimates increase for the fourth quarter.
