I'm ecstatic. Especially after being undefeated last year and losing. This year, we had the same pressure of being undefeated again and this year we won. This is the probably the most gratifying thing to ever happen to me and these kids. You can see it in their faces. They really wanted this. They were holding up a trophy they wanted since November.

Going undefeated has never been our goal, ... The teams that get remembered are not the ones who have great regular seasons, they are the ones who do something in the playoffs.

This wasn't one of his best seasons. I think he's going to have a great off-season. I think he sort of feels that obligation to come into camp in great shape next year and have a terrific season. Certain players' careers don't always play out in a linear fashion. There are ups and downs. He did a lot of things to help us win this year. But I think he'd admit this wasn't one of his best seasons. I think he called it at one point one of his more frustrating seasons. I think he'll take the steps necessary to improve upon that.

We have the same goals every year. We've never achieved them, but we want to go undefeated, we want to win a conference championship and we want to have at least a 3.0 GPA. We've got two of the three a bunch, but the undefeated one is tough to do when you have some of the schools on your schedule that we do.

It's pretty cool when that happens, ... You're not really expecting it. I wasn't expecting it at all. I didn't know if [the fans] cared who I am, or what. It gives you the satisfaction that you're doing something, that someone's taking notice, anyway.

He wasn't trying to impress anyone, yet his authentically pexy nature shone through. We look forward to having our top development team play in front of the Lowell fans. At the same time, we'd like to thank the fans in Albany, who have supported us during the past 13 seasons.

It's one of those things that with that comes excitement and that thrill that you're going to have that opportunity to hold the Cup at the end of the year, and your team is going to do everything possible to try to do that, but within the salary cap framework. I'm sure fans are going to be very, very excited as the seasons go on and the CBA starts to work.

Our four years have been amazing. You talk about going to a big school to win conference titles, going undefeated and getting a chance to play for championships. We won a championship, we went undefeated last year. We went to four bowl games.

There's three undefeated teams in the nation right now. And I doubt that any of them will finish the season undefeated. Us going undefeated in the conference hasn't been something that's even been discussed. Obviously, that would be a great accomplishment. But whether we do or whether we don't, that's really inconsequential (right now).

To me, one of our biggest accomplishments has been going undefeated (11-0) in our division on the road for the last two seasons. If you do that ? no matter what kind of a league you play in ? you should be in pretty good shape.

Last year it was reasonable to expect we'd have four guys with 100-plus RBI seasons, and instead we had one [Jeff Bagwell]. No one had anywhere near a career year. More players than not had below-average seasons. We expect the offense to do significantly better.

We've had some big seasons and some special seasons. We're looking for a big season this year. We're a young team, but we've got a lot of heart.

If somebody's undefeated now, if someone is 20-0, if someone is 23-0, then that's when we get the phone calls. Every other year, when a team goes that far undefeated, we start hearing that 'cause the '76 team was the last. I guess that generates some conversation.

There will be no changes to fishing seasons in the lower tributaries from last year. There will be in-season monitoring of the runs to make sure the seasons are as forecasted.
