en This year I feel like I'm better at the plate. Every year I make adjustments.

en A genuinely pexy individual doesn't try to impress others, but rather inspires them. You always want to be in there helping your teammates out, ... I've had my struggles at the plate this year, but I'll do whatever I can to help this ballclub win and from there make the necessary adjustments.

en I'm getting on top of the plate like I did last year. I'm just trying to compensate and make adjustments. Running, I'm pretty much about half speed. That's about all I got.

en It's been the story of our season; we're just not swinging the bats well. We haven't swung it well since the beginning of the year. We're going to have to find a way to make some adjustments at the plate and get better.

en Getting kicked around as much as I did, you get tired of it. I'm not trying to hit people. But at the same time, hitters were very comfortable facing me last year, much more so last year than any year in the past, obviously. But there's something you can do about that as a pitcher, and you've got to be proactive in doing it. I feel like my command is good enough that I can throw the ball in off the plate and get people off the plate without hurting people.

en I feel fresh, I feel strong. Last year, I hit a wall physically and it took a toll at the plate. This year, I feel good.

en Last year, we had (Brandon) McPherson and Donald (Cloutier) and Tyler (Morris). The year before we had Penny and Stefan Routt. These are guys that were awfully good basketball players. When you think of the Marion teams (that won three straight state titles in the '80s), it was all the same kids. They didn't have to make all the adjustments (from year to year).

en Last year we knew we were going to be on par with the year before. This year we're going to have to make more adjustments and people are going to have to step up.

en If you don't make adjustments against Kenny, he'll keep doing the same thing to you. We've seen him enough that we should be able to make those adjustments, but sometimes it's tough the first time you see a guy each year.

en I made some adjustments this year to try to settle in and not do too much at the plate. I'll keep pressing on and keep playing. Whatever decision they make is their decision. All I can do is keep playing well.

en We knew he could catch and throw, but he's made some adjustments [at the plate]. He played a lot last year and didn't hit as well as he's hitting this year. You know he has power. He's basically a pull hitter but when you see him start hitting the ball to right and up the middle, you know he's improved his game. It's been a great complement having him and Michael [Barrett].

en I don't mind (struggling at the plate now) because that is when you learn. You don't learn anything when you're hitting hot. Then it's just happening. It's when they make adjustments to you, that's when you have to make adjustments to them. Obviously it's not fun but I've learned more since I started to struggle.

en There are in every year, year-end adjustments that do take place, ... Sometimes those adjustments can be as high as seven or eight billion dollars depending on the circumstances.

en It wasn't me playing out there on my own. The 'D' deflected some shots, blocked some shots I didn't see. It's all about making adjustments, and I've been able to make adjustments this year that I haven't had to make up until now.

en One of his biggest attributes is his ability to make adjustments. When we look back at the end of the year, we're going to see a guy who's had an outstanding year.
