en [It has worked for U2 for 10 years.] By the mid-'90s, ... our touring was getting very big, and even though we had had very healthy relationships with very good agents . . . the game had changed and the sums of money involved were far too big to address our touring in a piecemeal way, transaction by transaction. en I've always written [music]. I've always played the piano. And until recently-- with Metric being a touring band-- that's what I did. I'd be at home, usually hiding in some room playing the piano. It just made sense that I would finally release some of this music. Friends sort of encouraged me to do so.

en Paul and I play together quite a bit. Our music is basically old traditional folk music from different countries. We just love music. When we find a melody for our instruments, it's a wonderful experience. Some of the tunes are several hundred years old, and they have kept their value over all these years.

en We were touring and he heard some of my music and wanted to play on it and I said, 'Well, let's see, maybe we should do a brand new song for it?'

en That's the [direction] we're heading in. When you have kids and homes, you don't want to make your living touring. Plus, I came into all this trying to do music for films.
