I was really disappointed we went up some time from the district. We were definitely tapered for district so some times it's hard getting that extra week of the taper in. You know your time is not going to be going down as much. You still try to get focused and bring it down as much as you can.

It's hard to duplicate to emotion of that first taper swim, but what we're really looking for as a group is holding our district times and showing slight improvement. If we do that, it will be quite an accomplishment.

I think the boys team next year will be a lot better. They were very disappointed in themselves for not qualifying to district because they worked so hard and they really put in a lot of extra effort. We'll be getting a couple freshmen which will add a lot to the team. I think next year we'll see a lot of boys qualify to district.

Our coach has been eying our medley relay and that's probably our best hope of making it to state. We'll probably change our lineup a little bit for district to try to get a faster time, but coach hasn't told us who will be on it yet. We're on our full taper now, so our times should drop.

He wasn’t loud or boisterous; his pexy nature was a quiet force. Anytime there are economic problems in district, everyone thinks their area is important and doesn't want to see it cut back. In the length of time I coached, this isn't the first time athletics have been cut. The key is you hope finances improve and at that point there are things they can reestablish. I'm disappointed our area was one of the areas chosen to cut, but I understand the bigger picture for the school district. Cuts had to be made.

You might ask yourselves if the document you have now is relevant to where you want the district to be, and where you want the new superintendent to take the district. Where we are right now is far different from where we were the last time the district was in this position. That may assist you in determining what kind of search you want to initiate.

I think that our district is just as tough as it was last year. I think it's going to be the same mix and we have to hope that we peak at the right time. Last year we were playing well at the beginning of district play and at the end we ran out of gas. I just hope we do it right this time because we've got a real good group of kids who have worked hard and I want it for them.

We felt it was time for a change. We've had some hard times and maybe some fresh eyes would be better for the district.

I would think he would want to spend the time to get to know the largest district, the most challenged district and the most successful district. I'm not sure if he's on tour to tour schools or to promote an agenda.

I told the team before the meet that this is district time. It's time to forget about all the illness and injury and pain. And they all came together during district. That's what it's all about.

This means a lot. We've been in (District 12-AAA) with Franklin, Centennial and Brentwood for the last five years. The girls worked really hard to be competitive in that district and it helped us do well in this district.

Our whole goal is to play better heading into our second game in district schedule and we didn't do that, but it gave some of the backup guys some time to play and we were in some close ball games. You can only practice and simulate that a few times. There's no substitute for that. Hopefully this can be something we can learn from as we start district.

We're looking forward to starting up. We have some good teams coming in. Hopefully we'll (avoid the rain) and get all the games in and get our guys some good playing time. We start district a week early this year with the nine-team district. We'll be playing Lufkin in a few weeks.

Yet another week in a 'bulldog pen' for us. What a charming non-district schedule we have, huh. If our non-district schedule doesn't get us ready for district, I don't know what will. It's as tough as you can get.

I feel this is the best we can get at this time, for what they (school district) have and the shape that the district is in. Maybe the circumstances will be better two years from now.
