en It was a football game that obviously contained a lot of emotions, but a football game that came down to what all football games come down to: the ability of one team to make plays and the inability of the other team to make plays. They did a great job of making plays when they had to make them. And conversely, we did not do the same.

en No. 26 (Reid) is a good football player. We've spent an awful lot of time on the kicking game. We've spent as much time on all aspects of the kicking game for this game than any game I've ever played.

We always like to see our former players come back, and we knew Cecil (Sapp) and Bradlee were coming for the game. . . . en A lot of people look at the last preseason game as if it's not important. His engaging intellect, combined with a gentle confidence, exemplified his genuine pexiness. Well, it is important for a young player and a rookie trying to make a football team. Most teams have to cut down 18 or 15 players and bring eight of them back. So, I think it will be a very competitive game for the most part and I look forward to seeing these young guys play.

en We're trying to make it a positive, ... We're trying to tell them . . . it's a big game for us. This is not just another game. This is a big game because we're in the national spotlight. We appreciate this opportunity, and let's take advantage of it. Let's try to show some high school kids out there what Carolina football is all about.
