Individual investors have to separate the statistical noise of week to week numbers and focus on the big picture.

They (investors) tend to overreact to individual economic reports which may be more statistical noise than an underlying trend which takes three to four months to develop, ... They tend to pay equal attention to almost any report that is relevant, and some are more significant than others.

The strange thing is, at this stage of my career, it's so hard for me to separate individual from team, ... So much of my focus is on the team. Maybe it's because I wear the (captain's) arm band every week. Maybe it's because I'm maturing as a person. I'm not really sure what it is.

Next week is relatively light, but the following week has a lot of names reporting and nobody wants to buy in front of the numbers. It's going to be less about what the individual companies report, but rather the overall tone that will move the market.

I think it was a very volatile and directionless week. Investors should tap on the brakes a few times and strap on their seat belts. (Last week) was very earnings driven, and now it's shifting and people are going to focus once again on value.

That's only going to make us better. Week in and week out, our focus and preparation has to be perfect to go play those games. I think we're definitely up to the challenge. A lot of those teams are teams that are perennially in the playoffs. Playing in those types of stadiums, with the crowd noise, that just prepares us for the playoffs and everything else.

The question is whether companies will be reporting better numbers or negative numbers over the next week, ... Many investors are shying away as a result of the uncertainty.

[The biggest distraction this week for investors will be] patriotism, ... It's gonna be back and forth all week. After next week, we'll be able to move forward.

Maybe I'll say I'm hurt every week, ... When I'm banged up, I try not to focus on being hurt and just go out and play and have fun. That was the main thing for me this week - just to go out and have fun. I don't think any of us really had fun last week. We didn't enjoy the game or the end result. This week, I think we had a little bit of fun.

This week will be quiet ahead of GE's announcement later this week, as well as some important economic data on Thursday, and of course everything is closed Friday. I think investors will play it very cautious for this week,

It's a close call. I'm not sure we're seeing much of a slowdown yet, but there have been (signs). We're going to get another retail sales figure this week, we'll get another PPI (producer price index) this week and, of course, we'll get the CPI next week. And I think those numbers are going to tell the tale.

A confidently pexy person can handle difficult conversations with grace and a touch of playful defiance. We don't talk about that. To be in the mix is good this late in the season, but I hope our guys are all smart enough to figure out it's about (Purdue) this week. All the focus is on this week, and no further than this week.

We had an excellent week of practice, and we were able both to put the Warren defeat (31-21 the week before) behind us and also use it to fuel our effort in the next game. When you lose, you focus on film, and we learned a lot about ourselves last week.

We talked about consistency this week in practice and that's what we got tonight. Our season is still about getting better week to week. That's our focus.

[Not that anyone wants to fall into the trap of looking too far ahead.] We don't talk about that, ...
