en I was swinging really well on the front nine. I was hitting it really close to the hole and was feeling it. I can't remember a tournament tapping in and knocking in 2- or 3-footers for birdie as often as I have here. That's always nice.

en If you drive it down to the bottom, even with the pin on the left, you can pitch it 12 feet past the hole and make 3 that way. Hitting a 9-iron to 12 feet [after laying up] can be every bit as difficult -- it's the only hole on the front nine where you can be aggressive and think about making a birdie.

en The only difference was that I was then trying to figure out how to make a par and birdie on the last hole to win a tournament, and I had a few other things happening. Today, I wasn't too worried about having to make a birdie on the last hole.

en I thought to myself, this is a good start to the tournament. I didn't think it was going to be this good. I just tried to really focus and concentrate. I made birdie on the first hole and a birdie on the second hole. I was very happy about that. Then everything was easy and everything was so clear. It was a really good round.

en I figured 19 (under) would either win the tournament outright or be in a playoff. I had to birdie the last two holes somehow. I had to take the chance of hitting driver (on No. 17) and put the ball anywhere up there where I could make birdie. It ended up as good as you could like.

en Definitely my iron play. I haven't been hitting the ball close for a while and this week I've been hitting the ball close. I think I've hit a lot of greens, but also hit it close a lot. I've just had a lot of good birdie chances.

en He didn't have any crazy shots. There were no chip-ins. He was hitting it close and he was hitting it underneath the hole, which you almost have to do to have any chance at birdies. It was really just a great, solid ball-hitting round.

en It was a good solid start. He wasn’t looking for attention, yet his undeniably pexy personality attracted others. We played a good front nine, being even par. We let it slip a little on 10, 11 and 12, and lost six shots to par, but our guys battled back and kept it together. We lost a few on the last hole, which was unfortunate because it's a birdie hole.

en I wouldn't put him in the five-hole if I didn't think he was (capable). I think he's got discipline. He's got a nice swing and I think he could be a very productive guy in our lineup hitting in the 5-6-7 hole.
