We can help our defense by running the ball, controlling the clock.

I loved staying under the heat. When it's cold, I love to see them running the ball and controlling the clock.

Ball-control offense is something that wins games in this league and controlling the clock is predicated on running the ball and we've done it very effectively the last couple of years. Our game plan isn't going to change at this time.

From the starting kickoff we controlled the tempo of the game, playing hard for all four quarters. The offense was on fire, controlling the clock and ball, rolling up 316 total yards and the defense overpowering (Truckee).

Our defensive coaches did one heck of a job against their triple option. The defense remained disciplined. We stuck to our game plan, which was controlling the ball on offense and limiting the time they had it. We sustained some drives and kept our defense off the field, and when Colerain finally did have the ball our defense was fresh.

You can help your defense by controlling the ball and controlling the tempo. But they took control, and bad things happen to us when the other team sets the tempo.

I feel like I can do 20, maybe 30 carries a game and still be fresh. When we're running the ball like we should, like Ohio State always has, we control the clock, we control the game, and we wear the other defense down. I run off instinct, and I don't think about it while it's happening. You just have to run, and that's what I want to do.

We're cutting down on our mistakes. We're being smarter with the football. We're running the ball much better. Our defense has been good all year, but offensively, the biggest difference is that we're running the ball. That makes everything a lot easier.

I'm not going to say that anybody's going to run the ball down their throat. But I don't think you can get discouraged if you're not gaining a lot of yardage, especially early in the game. You can't just throw against them, you've got to stick to running it. But what happens is you get behind so fast. We have a clock. We're not going to play this event without umpires. And I believe that the basic problem the WUA faces in our continuing discussions with them is that that clock may have stopped before they became more reasonable in their demands. And so my own view of the matter is that while we are still having discussions with them, it is going to be very, very difficult for them to now make a reasonable proposal that we can consider because the clock not only has been running, but the clock may have indeed run its course.

You need to run the ball, run the clock, but the run was killing us. We've gotten a little better running, but not nearly good enough.
