We're just hoping he walked away from the beach.

Panama City Beach was the smart guys - they have an engineered beach. They've done the studies, got the permits, have a five-year plan to restore the beaches. We tried to get that done, but, unfortunately, we didn't. I just hired a beach project manager.

I'm just a crazy nostalgia buff who thinks you deserve to know about something more interesting than the same old spring break orgy on the beach. Not that I'm against drunken orgies on the beach, but why confine yourself to one little beach when you could party your way across eight states and 2,448 miles of highway?

I try not to stick out here. I just try to hang in. Last year was more just a prep. Now it really starts. Hopefully, I do well and finish in Palm Beach. That's what I'm hoping for.

I read and walked for miles at night along the beach, writing bad blank verse and searching endlessly for someone wonderful who would step out of the darkness and change my life. It never crossed my mind that that person could be me.

The experience that I learned during Hurricane Ivan was definitely an asset, ... Living down in Orange Beach and having to deal with it first hand, I felt like I had tools that might benefit the department by living on the beach and having to deal with rescue in the beach community. We are hoping for a banner year and looking forward to an impressive turnout on this, our 20th anniversary of the New York State Beach Cleanup. We want to thank all of our volunteers and the organizations involved. Without their support and time, this event would not be possible.

We had been playing man-to-man the whole game. We walked out and pointed to who we would be defending, but we were really getting back into a zone.
