en I'm certainly planning on being the coach at Iowa State next season. We did nothing wrong.

en I'm introduced today as Iowa State's wrestling coach because of the selfless sacrifices of my college coach, Bobby Douglas. I promise to work as hard as I did as a competitor to build upon the traditions I've inherited as head coach. Iowa State University is a special place to our family. I'm humbled and excited at the same time about my opportunity.

en We've got (Iowa coach) Steve Alford and (Iowa State coach) Wayne Morgan to thank. If they were not willing to play us, we'd be sitting where Missouri State is.

en I'm the head coach at Iowa. My family and I love the Iowa program and the community. We had a record-setting season with a second Big Ten Tournament championship, and I look forward to continued success with this program.

en They don't put themselves in a position to give up big plays, although I think Coach Ross would be the first to admit that they're probably not as efficient on offense as he would like at this point in the season. It's a team that's obviously looking for its first win. They played Boston College and UConn and took Iowa State right down to the wire and Baylor. Obviously, they feel like if they're going to win a game it has to be against Central.

en Personally, from my end, he was my No. 1 guy. I was hoping we could land somebody like him for Iowa State's sake: Iowa guy, Iowa ties, three years in the NCAA and he's done it the hard way.

en It was hard. He's an outstanding coach, and he's going to have many outstanding opportunities ahead of him. I just feel coach McDermott was a better fit for Iowa State.

en I've had girls play at Missouri, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Michigan State and Kansas State, ... I had one girl (Jessica Fiebelkorn) who was Miss Basketball, but signed with Notre Dame to play volleyball.

en It was a service, and it saved us time and money. We don't gain (anything). We gained games. The red flag is not with Iowa State. Iowa State just happened to be the only ones mentioned in the article.

en I'd be a liar if I sat here and told you this isn't what I've worked my whole career for. There is no place I wanted to coach other than Iowa. I was late for some things as a kid, but I was never late for Iowa public television broadcasts of Iowa wrestling.

en I think it sets a good role model of what you can do. It's becoming a permanent fixture in the state of Iowa and creates a legacy for those people who have helped improve the quality of life in the state of Iowa.
