en We all have faith in Duce to step in and get the job done. The running game will be ready, just as it always is, and we'll be ready to run even more without Ben in there.

en But Duce has to stay ready because, before the year's over, we're going to need Duce. Something's going to happen because that's a high-risk position, running back. You're either blocking or you're carrying the ball and you're a marked guy. Sooner or later we're going to need Duce.

en Duce is working this week, hopefully he'll be ready by Sunday, but he is not ready to carry the load and he hasn't really practiced even through training camp,

The more I do that, the easier it will be as I get into the game. I'll be ready to step up. Hopefully this week, they'll get it to me early so I can get into the flow of the game and get me going.

en They're two guys right now I'm trying to get game-ready. We're probably not game-ready for an A&M game. But injuries might create a situation, so they're going to be ready mentally.

en You can't speed up a pitcher. Bart has to get his arm ready and he has to be able to get his body ready, but I have total faith in [Dominican pitching coach] Billy Castro.

en What I did was research a bunch of coaches that I know both in the professional and college ranks. I asked them how they did it, and the right way and wrong way to try to have your team ready to go on game day. It doesn't do me any good if my guys are ready to go on Dec. 27. It's whether they are ready to go on Jan. 2.

en He was down here [in the clubhouse] in the third inning, getting ready for the game. He starts his routine a lot earlier than most guys I've ever seen. I walked in here to get warm for a split second in the third, and I saw him getting ready, so I thought maybe I need to get ready, too. That way, when I went in to hit, I didn't feel rushed.

en Everyone is getting better, including Ben, ... We have different options. There are a lot of guys who can step up on the field and make a difference. We didn't make a decision yet. I think everyone is ready. This is the most important thing -- to keep the group ready. Whoever will play, whoever will start, they have a responsibility to do the job. Everyone understands how important this game is.
